We\r\n appreciate your suggestions for new features, or for changes in\r\n existing features.\r\n\r\n MATHCAD DOCUMENTS\r\n\r\n The MathCAD Auxiliary Disk contains many sample documents. You can\r\n load these documents into MathCAD to see some ways to use MathCAD's\r\n features.\r\n\r\n See the file DIRECTRY.MCD for a list of these documents.\r\n\r\n UNITS DOCUMENTS\r\n\r\n The MathCAD Auxiliary Disk includes three files that contain unit\r\n conversions.\r\n\r\n CGS.MCD contains unit conversions in the cgs system, based on\r\n centimeters, grams, and seconds. All units, including electrical\r\n units, are defined in terms of these base units.\r\n\r\n MKS.MCD contains unit conversions in the MKS system, based on\r\n meters, kilograms, seconds, and coulombs.\r\n\r\n USCUSTOM.MCD contains unit conversions based on the U.S. Customary\r\n units of feet, pounds (mass), seconds, and coulombs.\r\n\r\n You can add these conversions into files you create, or append\r\n them to the end of your files using the MathCAD append\r\n command.\r\n\r\n PROGRAM NOTES\r\n =============\r\n\r\n REDISPLAY COMMAND\r\n\r\n If you suspect that the MathCAD display screen is not accurately\r\n reflecting the state of a document, or if equations on screen\r\n have gaps or overlap one another, use the redisplay command by\r\n pressing [Ctrl]R. This redisplays the whole screen.\r\n\r\n Here are some actions that can cause the display to have gaps or\r\n unreadable parts:\r\n\r\n 1. Regions that overlap one another on the screen.\r\n\r\n 2. Error messages from an equation or plot that coincide\r\n on screen with other regions.\r\n\r\n 3. Cutting and pasting equations that overlap one another.\r\n\r\n None of these problems can cause computational errors; they\r\n affect the display only. When the information on the screen is\r\n unclear, press [Ctrl]R to redisplay everything.\r\n\r\n PRINTING DOCUMENTS\r\n\r\n If your printer works with other programs but not with MathCAD,\r\n MathCAD may be having difficulty communicating with your printer.\r\n Check the following:\r\n\r\n PARALLEL PRINTERS: Specify PRN or LPT1 as the printer device.\r\n (Specify LPT2 if the printer is on the second parallel port.\r\n\r\n SERIAL PRINTERS: First execute the following DOS commands:\r\n\r\n MODE COM1: 9600,N,8,1,P (or other parameters as\r\n appropriate for printer)\r\n MODE LPT1:= COM1\r\n\r\n Then, when MathCAD prompts for a printer device, specify PRN.\r\n\r\n PLOTTERS: First execute the following DOS command:\r\n\r\n MODE COM1: 9600,N,8,1,P (see your plotter manual to\r\n make sure this is correct.)\r\n\r\n Then, when MathCAD prompts for a printer device, specify COM1. DO\r\n NOT use LPT1 or PRN, even if you have redirected them to COM1.\r\n\r\n WHAT TO DO IF MATHCAD CANNOT PRINT\r\n\r\n First, check that your printer is compatible with a model that\r\n MathCAD supports. See the description of printing in the User's\r\n Guide and the descriptions of each printer driver in the printed\r\n Release Notes in the disk pocket of your package.\r\n\r\n If MathCAD cannot print directly, try printing to a file as follows:\r\n\r\n 1. Print the document to a file. Type [Esc] print [Enter].\r\n When MathCAD prompts you for a print area, press [Enter].\r\n Then, in place of the printer device, specify a filename like\r\n OUTPUT.PRN.\r\n\r\n 2. Save your document and exit MathCAD by pressing [Ctrl]Q.\r\n\r\n 3. At the DOS prompt, type:\r\n\r\n COPY /B OUTPUT.PRN PRN\r\n\r\n This sends the print file to the printer. Substitute the\r\n filename you used in step 1 for OUTPUT.PRN and the name of\r\n the port to which your printer is attached (for example,\r\n LPT1 or COM1) for PRN.\r\n\r\n REPLACE COMMAND\r\n\r\n MathCAD will not always recalculate equations as necessary\r\n after using the replace command ([Ctrl][F6]). After a replace\r\n command, do a process command to ensure that the calculations in\r\n the document are up to date.\r\n\r\n AT & T 6300 SERIES COMPUTERS\r\n\r\n To run in high-resolution mode (640x400 color or monochrome) on an\r\n AT&T 6300 series computer, type:\r\n\r\n MCAD /A\r\n\r\n If you do not type /A, MathCAD runs in CGA-emulation mode (640x200\r\n monochrome).\r\n\r\n L/I/M EXPANDED MEMORY LIMITATION\r\n\r\n In MathCAD 2.00, MathCAD uses at most 1 megabyte of available\r\n expanded memory." }
