Double-click the control menu box in the top left corner of the \r\n editing window to close the window. Ami Pro asks if you want to\r\n save the changes to the macro. Click Yes.\r\n\r\n- Installing the SmartPics SmartIcon in 1-2-3 for Windows:\r\n\r\n1. Copy SMARTPIC.BMP and SMARTPIC.MAC to your 123\\sheetico directory\r\n (e.g., copy c:\\smartpic\\smartpic.bmp c:\\123\\sheetico).\r\n\r\n2. From the 1-2-3 menu bar, choose Tools SmartIcons.\r\n\r\n3. In the Tools SmartIcons dialog box, click the Customize button.\r\n\r\n4. In the Tools SmartIcons Customize dialog box, scroll through the\r\n Custom Icons window until the SmartPics light bulb icon appears.\r\n\r\n5. Select the SmartPics icon and click Assign Macro.\r\n\r\n6. In the Tools SmartIcons Customize Assign Macro dialog box, the\r\n macro SMARTPIC.MAC will appear.\r\n\r\n NOTE: If you installed SmartPics for Windows in a directory\tother\r\n than c:\\smartpic, edit the macro to show the alternative directory.\r\n\r\n7. Click OK.\r\n\r\n8. In the Tools SmartIcons Customize dialog box, click Add.\r\n\r\n9. Click OK to close each dialog box until you return to the main\r\n 1-2-3 screen.\r\n\r\n For more information on using macros in 1-2-3, refer to your 1-2-3\r\n documentation.\r\n\r\n\r\nNOTE: The SmartPics program directory contains three bitmaps for the\r\nSmartPics SmartIcon, one for each monitor resolution. \r\n\r\no SMARTPIC.VGA (for VGA monitors)\r\no SMARTPIC.EGA (for EGA monitors)\r\no SMARTPIC.851 (for 8514 monitors)\r\n\r\nThe program directory also contains a bitmap called SMARTPIC.BMP. This\r\nbitmap controls how the SmartPics SmartIcon displays. When you install\r\nSmartPics, the install program tries to determine the type of monitor\r\nyou have and automatically copies the appropriate bitmap to \r\nSMARTPIC.BMP. \r\n\r\nIf you change the type of monitor you have after you install SmartPics, \r\nyou should copy the appropriate SmartIcon bitmap to SMARTPIC.BMP. This\r\nadjusts the display of the SmartPics SmartIcon for your monitor. For\r\nexample, if you had a VGA monitor when you installed SmartPics, but now\r\nhave an 8514 monitor, you should copy SMARTPIC.851 to SMARTPIC.BMP.\r\n\r\n\r\n** Setting Access Privileges to the SmartPics Directories on Different\r\n Networks **\r\n\r\nFOR NETWORK ADMINISTRATORS: SmartPics for Windows is designed to run \r\non several different networks. Each network operating system uses\r\ndifferent commands and terminology, and may even offer different or\r\nunique functionality.\r\n\r\nDepending on the network you are using, you may have to assign users \r\naccess privileges to the SmartPics program and network directories\r\nspecific to the network. \r\n\r\nFor example, for Novell NetWare 386 version 3.11, you should assign \r\nusers R and F (Read and File-scan) privileges to the SmartPics program\r\ndirectory and C, E, F, M, R, and W (Create, Erase, File-scan, Modify,\r\nRead, and Write) privileges to the network subdirectory. For Banyan \r\nVines version 4.1, you should assign users R (Read) access to the \r\nprogram directory and M (Modify) access to the network subdirectory. \r\nSee your network documentation for information on how to assign these\r\nprivileges.\r\n\r\nIn addition, some networks may require that node users have Search \r\naccess privileges to the entire path up to the SmartPics program \r\ndirectory, including the root directory. For example, if SmartPics \r\nresides on g:\\apps\\windows\\smartpic, users need Search access \r\nprivileges to g:\\, g:\\apps, and g:\\apps\\windows.\r\n\r\nIf node users on these networks do not have Search access privileges \r\nto these directories, the Lotus SmartPics browser will be unable\r\nto find the correct path for the SmartPics symbols in the Directory \r\ndialog box.\r\n\r\n\r\n** Using SmartPics on a 3COM 3+Share Network **\r\n\r\nFOR NETWORK ADMINISTRATORS: If you are using a 3COM 3+Share network, \r\nwhen you create directories, users are assigned read-only access \r\nprivileges to these directories by default. For SmartPics, users need \r\nread-write-delete-create access privileges to the SmartPics network\r\nsubdirectory. \r\n\r\nTo gain these additional rights to the SmartPics network subdirectory, \r\nyou must first make both the SmartPics program and network directories \r\nshareable. This gives users read-write access to these directories. \r\nSee your 3COM 3+Share network documentation for more information.\r\n\r\nNext, at the DOS prompt for the SmartPics program directory type:\r\n\r\nattrib *.* +r\r\n\r\nand press ENTER.\r\n\r\nThis gives users read-write access rights to the SmartPics program\r\ndirectory.\r\n\r\nAs network administrator, you will need to remove the read-only\r\nattributes from the SMARTPIC.NET file in the SmartPics program directory\r\nso that you can update node licensing information. \r\n\r\nTo do this, at the DOS prompt for the SmartPics program directory type:\r\n\r\nattrib smartpic.net -r\r\n\r\nand press ENTER.\r\n\r\nAll users now have all access privileges to this file. When you finish\r\nupdating the node licensing information, make sure that you reset the\r\nread-only attribute for this file.\r\n\r\nIn addition, if you are running the server edition of Windows on this\r\nnetwork, you may need to copy OLECLI.DLL, OLESVR.DLL, and SHELL.DLL\r\nfrom your SmartPics server directory to the Windows server directory.\r\n\r\n** Using SmartPics As an OLE Server **\r\n\r\nSmartPics can run in either of two modes. When you access SmartPics\r\nfrom the Windows Program Manager, SmartPics runs in normal mode and\r\nruns as a freestanding Windows application. In this mode, SmartPics\r\ndoes not copy images to the Windows Clipboard in the following formats:\r\n\r\no native\r\no owner link\r\no object link\r\n\r\nWhen you access SmartPics from within applications that support Object \r\nLinking and Embedding (OLE), SmartPics runs as a mini-OLE server. In\r\nthis mode, SmartPics does not support linking. \r\n\r\n** Using SmartPics with Other Applications **\r\n\r\nYou can use SmartPics images in a wide variety of applications. When \r\nyou copy a SmartPics image to paste into another application, by \r\ndefault, SmartPics copies the image in the Windows metafile format (WMF). \r\nThis format produces the best results.\r\n\r\nFor applications that do not support the metafile format, SmartPics \r\noffers two additional formats: Device Independent Bitmap (DIB) and \r\nBitmap (BMP). You can choose a format in the SmartPics Options dialog \r\nbox.\r\n\r\nWhen using SmartPics images in other applications, keep in mind the\r\nfollowing:\r\n\r\n- If you try to paste a SmartPics image into an application and the\r\n paste function is not available, that application may not support\r\n the format that you used to copy the SmartPics image (metafile, \r\n Device Independent Bitmap, or bitmap).\r\n\r\n In the SmartPics Options dialog box, choose another format and copy \r\n the image again. Then try to paste it into the other application.\r\n\r\n- Sometimes, when you paste a SmartPics image into an application the \r\n image may not appear optimally, for example, it may appear grainy\r\n or speckled. \r\n\r\n In the SmartPics Options dialog box, choose the Windows metafile \r\n format to obtain optimal results.\r\n\r\n- Sometimes, when you copy a SmartPics image using the Windows \r\n metafile format (the default) and paste it into some applications, for\r\n example, Word Perfect for Windows 5.1, images with white flesh tones \r\n appear gray.\r\n\r\n In the SmartPics Options dialog box, choose the Black line art \r\n symbols option for the version of the symbols you want to use."
