"desc_text": "******** Welcome to the PLACE Advance Development Software from ICT ********\r\n\r\nThis README.DOC file provides the following information regarding the PLACE\r\nsoftware.\r\n\r\n 1. System Requirements.\r\n 2. Software Installation to Hard Disk.\r\n IMPORTANT! The PLACE installation procedure has been changed since the\r\n PLACE manual was printed. Please use the procedure specified in this\r\n file.\r\n 3. PLACE Glossary.\r\n 4. The New Features of Version 2.20.\r\n\r\n*** System Requirements ***\r\n\r\n- IBM PC compatible computers, includeing the XT, AT, 386, 486 or compatible.\r\n- Minimum 560K RAM memory for all the designs.\r\n- EGA, VGA , SVGA or Hercules Graphics\r\n- At least 4.0 MB of hard disk free space\r\n- Microsoft mouse or compatible with driver\r\n- One communication port (serial port) for PDS-2 programmer, if you are using \r\n PDS-2 programmer. \r\n- DOS version 3.0 or higher\r\n- (Optional) Expanded Memory with LIM Specification Version 3.2 or higher.\r\n\r\n\r\n*** Software Installation to Hard Disk ***\r\n\r\n1. Turn the computer on.\r\n2. Boot-up DOS 3.0 or higher.\r\n3. Install you mouse driver. PLACE will not boot-up without it.\r\n4. Insert the PLACE Disk into drive A. \r\n5. At the prompt \"A>\", type \"INSTALL\" followed by the ENTER key. This\r\n copies all files from the diskettes into the user-specified directory\r\n (directory defaults to \"C:\\ICTPLACE\"). The installation program\r\n automatically decompresses all the PLACE files using the LHA program\r\n by H. Yoshizaki (Copyright reserved).\r\n6. After installation is completed, type \"INIT\" followed by the ENTER\r\n key.\r\n\r\n\r\nNotes:\r\na. For re-initialization, type \"INIT\" followed by the ENTER key.\r\nb. (Optional) Assuming the target hard disk drive is C, include the\r\n directory \"C:\\ICTPLACE\" into your DOS Path and insert the statement\r\n \"SET ICTPLACE=C:\\ICTPLACE\" into your AUTOEXEC.BAT file.\r\n This allows you to call PLACE from any directory.\r\n\r\n\r\n*** PLACE Glossary ***\r\n\r\nBelow lists the common terms that the PLACE manual uses.\r\n\r\nClick - press left button of mouse and release immediately.\r\n This mouse action is mostly used to select a feature or mode. It is\r\n sometimes used to emulate the ENTER key (for instance, after\r\n entering a label in the \"Label\" mode).\r\nClick-R - press right button of mouse and release immediately.\r\n Usually used to abort or quit a function or mode. A special function\r\n for this mouse action is to toggle between two modes, such as between\r\n \"Edit Arch\" and \"Edit Eqn\" modes in the Design operation, and\r\n between normal and \"Edit\" mode in the Simulate operation.\r\nClick-LH - press left button and hold it down while moving the mouse cursor\r\n to a desired location. Release mouse button when destination is\r\n reached. Used in the scrolling from a LCC (or IOC) to another LCC,\r\n or in selecting a \"Zoom\" window in the Simulate operation.\r\nClick-MH - press middle button and hold it down to enter a specific mode.\r\n Release mouse button to exit the mode. \r\nLCC - Logic Control Cell (PEEL Arrays only).\r\nIOC - I/O Cell.\r\nINC - Input Cell (PA7140 and PA7128 devices only)\r\nGBC - Global Cell (PEEL Arrays only).\r\nRT - (Register Type) Dynamic Register Control (PEEL Arrays only).\r\nReset - Global Reset for the LCC flip-flop (PEEL Arrays only).\r\nPreset - Global Preset for the LCC flip-flop (PEEL Arrays only).\r\nPCLKA,\r\nPCLKB,\r\nPCLKC - Global product term clocks for the IOC flip-flop (PEEL Arrays only).\r\n\r\n\r\n*** The New Features of Version 2.20. ***\r\n\r\n1. Support for the PA7140 and PA7128 PEEL Arrays.\r\n\r\n2. Interface to PEEL Development System PDS-2 programmer which support for\r\n full ICT PEEL and PEEL Array products.\r\n\r\n3. The Vpp, program/verify, voltage changed for the ICT A parts.\r\n\r\n4. Updated Counter macro function. \r\n\r\n a) Must be specified in the DEFINE section.\r\n\r\n b) Syntax is:\r\n\r\n COUNTERF(load, updown, cBits, type, iBits);\r\n\r\n load: 0 = No load function\r\n Pin_Name, Node_Name (Cell_Names),\r\n Macro_defined_label = load control\r\n\r\n updown: 0 = Up Ccount\r\n 1 = Down Count\r\n Pin_Name, Node_Name (Cell_Names),\r\n Macro_defined_label = updown control\r\n (TRUE logic for Up Count)\r\n\r\n cBits: A Macro-Set-Variable (page 5-22) with at least 2 elements.\r\n This set contains the counting bits which include Pin_Names\r\n or Node_Names (Cell_Names).\r\n\r\n type: D = D-type counter\r\n T = T-type counter\r\n (The pins or cells assigned to the macro label in the \"cBits\"\r\n parameter must have the same register type)\r\n\r\n iBits: 0 = Non-loadable counter\r\n Macro-Set-Variable = Data bits for loading the counter. This\r\n set must have the same number of elements as the cBits. The\r\n elements include Pin_Names or Node_Names (Cell_Names).\r\n If load=0, then iBits=0.\r\n\r\n c) An Example is:\r\n\r\n DEFINE\r\n\r\n UPDN_BITS = [Q4 Q3 Q2 Q1 Q0]; \"Counting Bits. Q[4-0] can be pin or\r\n \"cell labels.\r\n\r\n LOAD_EN = A & B; \"Load Control Equation. Loads when\r\n \"A=TRUE and B=TRUE.\r\n LOAD_BITS = [L4 L3 L2 L1 L0] \"Load Inputs, either pin or cell\r\n \"labels.\r\n\r\n UPDN_CON = C & !D; \"Updown Control.\r\n \"If C=TRUE, D=FALSE, it is Up Counter\r\n \"Else, it is Down Counter.\r\n\r\n COUNTERF(LOAD_EN, UPDN_CON, UPDN_BITS, T, LOAD_BITS);\r\n .\r\n .\r\n .\r\n\r\n EQUATIONS\r\n\r\n5. Updated the PEELXLT.exe which translates a PLD File to a PEEL Device.\r\n\r\n From DOS prompt,\r\n Type \"PEELXLT source_filename source_PLD target_PEEL_device\"\r\n Example: PEELXLT R8CNTR 16R8 18CV8\r\n It is assumed to have a \".JED\" extension for the soure file. In this\r\n case it creates the PEEL device JEDEC file :R8CNTR.JEX\"."
