+===============================================+\r\n |\tDOS Driver for DC2000 VL-Bus IDE Controller |\r\n +===============================================+\r\n\r\n The file DC2000.SYS is the DOS driver for the DC2000 disk controller. You\r\n will need it in the following situations:\r\n\r\n - Your DC2000 has no on-board external BIOS to take the advantage of\r\n the high speed 32-bit VL-Bus.\r\n\r\n - Your DC2000 has an on-board external BIOS, but it can not work under the\r\n default Turbo mode. You need to select the operating mode every time\r\n when you power up or reboot your system.\r\n\r\n\r\n Please follow the steps below to install the driver for DOS.\r\n\r\n - Follow the installation steps as described in the DC2000 Installation\r\n Guide and bring up your DC2000.\r\n\r\n - Copy the driver DC2000.SYS to your system in the appropriate path.\r\n\r\n - Add the following statement to your CONFIG.SYS file:\r\n\r\n\t device = [drive:][\\path\\] DC2000.sys [/F or /T] [/W]\r\n\r\n where [drive:] and [\\path\\] point to the directory that contains the\r\n the DC2000.sys file. The parameters F, T and W define the operating mode\r\n as follows:\r\n\r\n\t F : DC2000 working in the Fast mode\r\n\t T : DC2000 working in the Turbo mode (default operating mode)\r\n\t W : DC2000 working in the 16 bit data access mode (If motherboard\r\n\t\t CPU has a 16-bit external data bus. for examples,\r\n\t\t IBM 486 SLC2....)\r\n\r\n\t Note: If no parameter is specified, the DC2000 will be set to\r\n\t run under the default Turbo and 32 bit data access mode.\r\n\r\n Under Fast(F) mode, the DC2000 supports 32-bit VL-Bus IO. Under Turbo\r\n (T) mode, the DC2000 not only supports 32-bit VL-Bus IO, it also supports\r\n the read/write multiple commands. Since read/write multiple commands\r\n allow the host to access disk data in multiple-sector blocks, the Turbo\r\n mode will usually be faster.\r\n\r\n Note that not all IDE drives support the read/write multiple commands.\r\n Usually, you may set your DC2000 to run under the Turbo mode. When\r\n your system is brought up, the driver DC2000.sys will automatically\r\n issue an Identify Drive command to check if the attached IDE drive(s)\r\n support the read/write multiple commands. In case your drive(s) does\r\n not support the read/write multiple commands, the DC2000 will\r\n automatically be forced to run under the Fast mode.\r\n\r\n Note: Some IDE drives may not support the read/write multiple commands\r\n properly. If your DC2000 can not access the attached drive(s) properly\r\n under the default Turbo mode, you have to specify the parameter as \"F\".\r\n\r\n Example:\r\n\r\n If the DOS driver DC2000.SYS resides in the root directory of the\r\n drive C:, and you want your DC2000 to run under TURBO mode, add the\r\n following statement to the file CONFIG.SYS.\r\n\r\n\t device= c:\\DC2000.sys\r\n\r\n Add the following statement if your DC2000 has to run under the\r\n Fast mode:\r\n\r\n\t device= c:\\DC2000.sys /f\r\n\r\n\r\n +========================================================+\r\n |\tMicrosoft Windows version 3.1 disk driver for DC2000 |\r\n +========================================================+\r\n\r\n The file DC2000.386 is the Microsoft Windows 3.1 disk driver for the\r\n DC2000 controller.\r\n\r\n While Microsoft Windows version 3.1 supports 32-bit disk access, the\r\n disk data transfer between host and the IDE adapter is still limited\r\n by the 16-bit ISA bus. If you want to speed up your hard drives under\r\n Windows through the 32-bit VL-Bus, you will need this driver.
