"FaxMaster 1.0 Release Notes\r\n\r\nCAS-Standard Fax/Modems \r\nIf you use a fax/modem that adheres to the CAS standard, call FaxMaster product \r\nsupport for an update disk. The software in this box does not support CAS.\r\nLocating the FaxMaster... Command\r\nYou must run a special installation macro to set up FaxMaster with the following \r\napplications:\r\n\tWord for Windows 2.0\r\n\tWordPerfect\r\n\tExcel 3.0\r\n\tAmi Pro 2.0\r\n\r\nSee Chapter 2, Getting Started, for detailed instructions on installing FaxMaster with \r\nthese programs. Note: When setting up Excel 3.0, open the file faxlink.xlm in your \r\nFaxMaster directory, not the file omniscan.xlm.\r\nThe FaxMaster... command appears in the Windows Control menu with the following \r\napplications:\r\n\tLotus 123\r\n\tPFS:WindowWorks\r\n\tVentura Publisher \r\n\tWingZ\r\n\r\nPull down the Control menu by clicking on the small rectangle in the far upper-left corner \r\nof your application window.\r\nFaxMaster... will not appear as a menu item with some applications. If you have a \r\nrecently released Windows application, Register the application as described in Chapter \r\n2, Getting Started. If the FaxMaster... command still does not appear in the File or Control \r\nmenus, press the CTRL-SHIFT-F hot-key combination. Pressing this hot-key combination \r\nis the same as selecting FaxMaster... in the File menu. If the hot-key combination \r\nconflicts with your application, select a different hot key by selecting System in the \r\nFaxMaster Setup menu.\r\nIf an error message tells you that FaxMaster won't work with the application, view faxes \r\nby opening FaxMaster from the Program Manager. Send faxes by using the following \r\nmethod.\r\n\r\nSending from an Application Without the \r\nFaxMaster... Command\r\nFaxMaster uses your fax/modem hardware like a printer: to send a fax, you select the \r\nFaxMaster driver in your printer setup.\r\n1.\tSelect Printer Setup in your application's File menu.\r\n\tThe Printer Setup dialog box will appear. \r\n\tIf you cannot choose a printer driver from the dialog box, select the FaxMaster \r\nprinter driver via the Windows Control Panel. Open the Control Panel, select Printers, \r\nand highlight the FaxMaster driver.\r\n2.\tSelect the FaxMaster printer driver.\r\n\tIf necessary, click Connect to set up the FaxMaster driver with the COM port your \r\nfax/modem is set to.\r\n3.\tClick OK.\r\n4.\tSelect Print... in the application's File menu.\r\n5.\tClick OK.\r\n\tThe Dial Fax dialog box will appear.\r\nFax/Modem to Fax/Modem Transmissions\r\nSome computer fax/modem hardware will not accurately transmit fax data to another \r\ncomputer fax/modem unit. If you have difficulty sending or receiving faxes between two \r\nfax/modems, consult your fax/modem's manufacturer for information about compatibility \r\nissues.\r\n\r\nViewing Cover Pages in the Transmit Log\r\nFaxMaster does not display cover pages of faxes you have sent. To review a cover \r\npage, highlight the thumbnail of the fax in the Log view. Select Fax Statistics in the Help \r\nmenu and click Cover Page. The dialog box will list any text message or bitmap file you \r\nsent with the fax's cover page.\r\n\r\nEditing Recognized Text\r\nIn Text view, FaxMaster displays recognized text in three colors: Blue indicates a word \r\nwas spell-checked and replaced; Green indicates a word was not found in the dictionary \r\nand is probably incorrect; Red indicates an unrecognizable character.\r\n\r\nIf Exported Text Appears in a Narrow Column\r\nWhen you export text from FaxMaster directly into another application, text may appear \r\nin a narrow column on the left side. This is because the margins in your application are \r\nlarger than the margins in the fax. Make the margins in your application smaller and re-\r\nimport the text.\r\n\r\nUser Dictionary\r\nFaxMaster automatically spell-checks your fax after recognizing text. It checks words \r\nagainst both the main dictionary and the personal, user dictionary. If the word isn't found \r\nin either dictionary, FaxMaster may replace it with a word that it considers correct. \r\nIf your faxes contain many words not found in a standard dictionary, add these words to \r\nthe user dictionary; you can build a custom word list that includes special words used in \r\nyour profession. FaxMaster will then recognize them as correctly spelled. \r\nSelect User Dictionary in the Setup menu to edit entries in the user dictionary. This \r\ndialog box lists all the words currently in the user dictionary. \r\nThe edit box on the right lets you add a word to the list. To display a word in the edit box, \r\nyou can either type the word or highlight the word in the list box. You will then have the \r\nfollowing options:\r\nAdd Click this to add the word in the edit box to your user dictionary.\r\nDelete Click this to delete the word in the edit box or a word highlighted in the list box \r\nfrom your user dictionary. \r\nYou can add all the words from a particular document to your personal dictionary or save \r\nyour word list as a text file by using the Import and Export features.\r\nImport This lets you add words in a text file to your user dictionary. For example, you \r\nmay want to add technical terms from a particular document. The Import dialog box \r\nprompts you for a file name; enter the file name of the document that contains words you \r\nwant in your user dictionary. The program will go through the text file, discard words \r\nalready in the main or user dictionaries, and add the words that are left to your user \r\ndictionary.\r\nThe imported text file can be any document or word list in ASCII format. Most word \r\nprocessors can convert a file into ASCII format; see your program's documentation.\r\nExport This lets you save your user dictionary as a text file. When you select Export, a \r\ndialog box will prompt you for a file name and destination. You can use the text file in \r\nother dictionaries or save it for later use with FaxMaster.\r\nOK This saves your edited dictionary and exits the User Dictionary option.\r\nCancel This exits the User Dictionary function without saving any changes.\r\n\r\nApplication Notes\r\nGraphics Applications - Exporting Text FaxMaster will not export text directly into some \r\ngraphics applications. In FaxMaster, copy the text to the Windows clipboard. Then paste \r\nit into your work within your graphics application.\r\nAmi Pro 2.0 To export text directly from FaxMaster to Ami Pro, you'll need to install the \r\nAmi Pro RTF file format converter. See your Ami Pro documentation for instructions. Ami \r\nPro version 1.2 does not work with this release of FaxMaster.\r\nExcel 1.0, 2.0 These applications do not work with this release of FaxMaster.\r\nLegacy, Lotus 123 You may export only one fax page of text directly into these \r\napplications. If you're working with a multiple-page fax, save all the fax text as a file and \r\nthen import the file.\r\nPageMaker Before exporting text to PageMaker, toggle the PageMaker Autoflow option \r\n(available in the Options menu) on. \r\nVentura Publisher You may export only one fax page of text directly into Ventura. If \r\nyou're working with a multiple-page fax, save all the fax text as a file and then import the \r\nfile.\r\nWingZ After you select the FaxMaster... command, the FaxMaster window will move \r\nbehind WingZ. Press the Alt-Tab key combination to move the FaxMaster window to the \r\nfront.\r\nWord for Windows 1.0 This application does not work with this release of FaxMaster.\r\n\r\nScanners\r\nFujitsu scanners are currently incompatible with Windows 3.1 and are not supported in \r\nthis release of FaxMaster.\r\nSharp scanners are not supported in this release of FaxMaster." }
