Also, make sure that \r\nSession's MIDI settings with regard to the choice of MIDI \r\ndriver and the use of the MIDI Mapper are the same as Music \r\nMentor's MIDI settings. If you are running Windows 3.1, \r\nMusic Mentor's default MIDI setting is to use the Multimedia \r\nMIDI Driver. Any time Mentor is using the Multimedia MIDI \r\nDriver it will also be using the MIDI Mapper. For more \r\ninformation on this, see the section in your user's manual \r\non setting up Music Mentor for MIDI.\r\n\r\n\r\nRunning on Two Megabyte Machines\r\n\r\nIf you experience performance or reliability problems using \r\nMusic Mentor on machines with two megabytes of memory, try \r\nthe following things:\r\n\r\nTurn off SMARTDRV by taking the line that launches SMARTDRV \r\nout of your AUTOEXEC.BAT file and restarting your computer. \r\nOn two meg machines, we do not recommend using Music Mentor \r\nwhen SMARTDRV is on.\r\n\r\nFree up as much memory as possible before launching Music \r\nMentor. Ideally, only the Program Manager should be open.\r\n\r\nIf you have an MPU-401-compatible MIDI device, use the \r\nMidisoft MIDI Driver instead of the Multimedia MIDI Driver \r\nin Music Mentor's MIDI Setup dialog. The Midisoft MIDI \r\nDriver is faster and more efficient.\r\n\r\n\r\nRunning at Screen Resolutions Larger Than 640 x 480\r\n\r\nMusic Mentor was designed for use at 640 x 480. If you don't \r\nwant to run Music Mentor in this resolution, preferring \r\ninstead to run at 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768, you should be \r\naware that the size of the text will change, and in some \r\ncases may be difficult to read because it is so small. Some \r\nmakers of high resolution video cards include larger-than-\r\nnormal screen fonts for use in these situations. We have \r\nfound that on some systems, this may cause some of the text \r\nin Music Mentor to \"spill out\" over its field boundaries. \r\nText is either cut off or overruns another graphic object. \r\nThe problem is caused because you have switched to different \r\nscreen fonts in order to make better use of the increased \r\nresolutions. You always have the option, of course, of not \r\nswitching to different screen fonts, and in this case, Music \r\nMentor should look fine. The only screen font Music Mentor \r\nuses is Helvetica, so it is only when a new font is \r\nsubstituted for Helvetica that this becomes a problem.\r\n\r\n\r\nAnother Font-Related Issue\r\n\r\nUsers who run Music Mentor in conjunction with on-the-fly \r\ntype scaling software like Adobe Type Manager and Bitstream \r\nFaceLift may notice that some text looks slightly out of \r\nplace on screen. This happens when the type scaling program \r\ntakes over the \"rasterization\" (on-screen drawing) of the \r\nHelvetica screen font. Though we have not come across any \r\nsituations where this is a serious problem that prevents \r\nuse of the program, if it bothers you you can probably \r\ncorrect it by altering the sizes of screen fonts that your \r\ntype scaling program will draw and returning the drawing of \r\nthe affected Helvetica fonts back over to Windows itself." }
