It contains important information\r\nnot available when the manual was printed.\r\n\r\n\r\nIcon Do-It Users\r\n\r\nIcon Hear-It replaces Icon Do-It during installation. Since Icon\r\nHear-It contains all the functions of Icon Do-It plus more, you can simply\r\nerase Icon Do-It from your hard drive.\r\n\r\n\r\nSound\r\n\r\nIf you do not hear any sound please try assigning the sound again. \r\nIf that doesn't work, check and make sure the HEARITFX \r\ndirectory exists beneath Windows and that the TASOUNDS directory exists\r\nbeneath ICONHEAR. The TASOUNDS directory CANNOT be moved, nor can the\r\nfiles beneath it be deleted. You will lose your talking applications\r\nif Icon Hear-It cannot find these sound files.\r\n\r\nYou can erase all or some of the files in HEARITFX without damaging\r\nIcon Hear-It. But, you will lose any of the preattached sounds whose\r\nfile you have deleted or moved. However, after relocating this directory \r\nyou can reattach these sounds.\r\n\r\nIcon Hear-It supports all .wav files. You can use your own sounds \r\nwith Icon Hear-It by clicking through the directory list boxes to the \r\ndirectory that contains your .wav files and following the instructions\r\noutlined in the User's Guide for attaching sounds.\r\n\r\n\r\nSound Board Not Being Used\r\n\r\nIf you have a sound board installed (i.e. Sound Blaster, Ad Lib, \r\nThunder Board, etc) and the sounds are still being played through\r\nthe PC Speaker:\r\n\r\n\t1. Go into Control Panel, then Drivers.\r\n\t2. Check to make sure your sound driver is installed.\r\n\t3. Remove the Sound Driver for PC-Speaker. \r\n\r\nYou will be prompted that this sound driver is required by your system,\r\ndo you really want to remove it. Click Yes. You will then be asked\r\nif you want to restart Windows, also Click Yes.\r\n\r\nIf you are still not getting sound through your sound card you will\r\nneed to edit your SYSTEM.INI file located in your Windows directory.\r\nYou can use NOTEPAD or DOS EDIT to do this.\r\n\r\nTowards the bottom of this file, you will see a section similar to the \r\nfollowing:\r\n\r\n[drivers]\r\nWave=mvspeakr.drv\r\n\r\nReplace the words mvspeaker.drv with the name of your speaker driver.\r\nThen, save the file and restart Windows.\r\n\r\n\r\nAdding Push Buttons\r\n\r\nIf you add a push button and give it a sound, you will see it in the \r\nTrack All Icon Hear-It Sounds window. But, if you unattach the sound, \r\nthe push button will be removed from this list. The preattached push buttons will \r\nalways remain in the list whether you unassign their sounds or not.\r\n\r\n\r\nSpeaker Driver Setup\r\n\r\nThe Speaker Driver Setup push button in the Options Window works ONLY with \r\nthe speaker driver installed with Icon Hear-It. When loading, if\r\nIcon Hear-It detects a sound board or speaker driver already on your\r\nsystem, it will not allow you to use it Speaker Setup.\r\n\r\nIf you do not have a sound board or other speaker driver installed \r\nand you still can't access the Speaker Driver Setup, you need to edit your\r\nsystem.ini file and remove the line :\r\n\r\n Wave= speakerdrivername\r\n\r\nfrom underneath the [Drivers] section. The next time Icon Hear-It loads,\r\nit will write a new \"Wave = \" with its own speaker driver.\r\n\r\n\r\nDOS Applications that Use Sound\r\n\r\nIf you have attached a sound to an icon for a DOS based application\r\nthat uses sound, you may get an error messager saying your sound card \r\nis in use by another program. This is happening because the DOS\r\napplication accesses the sound board directly and if it is in use\r\nby Windows, (which it would be if it was playing the sound attached\r\nto the icon) it cannot be accessed again by DOS."
