"desc_text": "Dear PC Globe User,\r\n\r\nThank for purchasing PC Globe 4.0.\r\n\r\nWe are delighted to inform you of an additional enhancement that\r\nis not mentioned in your manual. In the CURRENCY CONVERSION utility,\r\nit is now possible to edit and save new currency exchange rates\r\nas often as you wish. To do so, follow these instructions:\r\n\r\n- Before starting PC Globe, be sure that your DOS computer clock is \r\n set at the correct date. This is important because the CURRENCY\r\n CONVERSION utility automatically inputs the new date based on your\r\n computer clock. To check your computer clock, type DATE next to\r\n your DOS prompt.\r\n\r\n- To edit the entire list of currency exchange rates, place the cursor\r\n over CURRENCY CONVERSION on the UTILITIES menu and press <enter>\r\n or mouse <left>. Then place the cursor over EDIT EXCHANGE RATES and\r\n press <enter> or mouse <left>. A list of currencies with their \r\n respective exchange rates will be displayed. You may edit the numbers\r\n on this list based on the new information available to you. To save\r\n your changes, press <ins>. \r\n{\r\n- For editing the currency exchange list, we recommend that you use\r\n the interbank rates of exchange listed in your daily newspaper. One\r\n of the best lists available appears every Monday in the Wall Street\r\n Journal. This list is prepared by BankAmerica and includes all of \r\n the currencies contained in PC Globe. The list usually appears as\r\n a special advertisement in the third section of the paper (Money & \r\n Investing).\r\n{\r\n\r\nIf your version of PC GLOBE 4.0 program is operating smoothly, there is\r\nno need to continue reading. The instructions below pertain to optional \r\ninstallation parameters, disk configurations and printers.\r\n\r\nOPTIONAL INSTALL PARAMETERS\r\n\r\nIt is possible to modify the installation routine by typing a hyphen and \r\nspecific letters after the word \"install\" as described below:\r\n\r\ninstall -o\r\n\r\n Overrides autodetection of graphics card type.\r\n\r\n The INSTALL program automatically determines the type of graphics\r\n card that your computer has. Unfortunately, sometimes graphics cards\r\n are not always 100% compatible and can be misidentified as invalid.\r\n Adding -o to the command line will bypass automatic detection and\r\n allow any graphics mode to be selected.\r\n{\r\ninstall -s\r\n\r\n No status check for printer.\r\n\r\n If you are using a print spooler, you may need to add this parameter\r\n in order for your printer to function properly.\r\n\r\ninstall -tn\r\n\r\n Text screen delay (replace n with a number from 0 to 9).\r\n\r\ninstall -gn\r\n\r\n Graphics screen delay (replace n with a number from 0 to 9).\r\n\r\n PC GLOBE uses graphics and text screens in order to increase performance\r\n and optimize memory usage. Some monitors, especially multi-frequency\r\n monitors, will appear unstabilized and flicker when changing modes.\r\n This option allows the user to add a delay after changing modes to\r\n reduce or eliminate the flicker.\r\n{\r\n \r\nMore than one optional parameter can be included on the INSTALL command \r\nline. The following example would install for no status check for the \r\nprinter and set the text screen delay to 5, and the graphic screen \r\ndelay to 4:\r\n\r\ninstall -s -t5 -g4\r\n{\r\nTRANSFERING FROM 5.25\" to 3.5\" DISKETTES\r\n\r\nIf you wish to make a set of 3.5\" diskettes from 5.25\" diskettes:\r\n \r\n 1. Copy disk #1 of the 5.25\" disks to disk #1 of the 3.5\" diskette set.\r\n 2. Copy all of the files on disk #2 of the 5.25\" disks to 3.5\" disk #1\r\n EXCEPT for ANTHEMS.DAT and FLAGS.DAT.\r\n 3. Copy ANTHEMS.DAT and FLAGS.DAT from disk #2 of the 5.25\" disks to\r\n 3.5\" disk #2.\r\n 4. Copy disk #3 of the 5.25\" disk to disk #1 of the 3.5\" diskette set.\r\n 5. Copy disks #4 and #5 of the 5.25\" disk to disk #3 of the 3.5\"\r\n diskette set.\r\n\r\n{\r\nTRANSFERING FROM 3.5\" to 5.25\" DISKETTES\r\n\r\nIf you wish to make a set of 5.25\" diskettes from 3.5\" diskettes:\r\n\r\n 1. Copy the following files from 3.5\" disk #1 to 5.25\" disk #1:\r\n\r\n PCGPPRIN.COM PRINTER.DAT\r\n README.COM VIDEO.DAT\r\n FILLCOLO.DAT PCGLOBE.EXE\r\n LOGO.DAT INSTALL.EXE\r\n\r\n 2. Copy the following files from 3.5\" disk #1 to 5.25\" disk #2:\r\n\r\n MENU.DAT TEXTMENU.DAT\r\n NAMEDATA.DAT WORLD.VEC\r\n NAMES.DAT CURRENCY.DAT\r\n{\r\nTRANSFERING FROM 3.5\" to 5.25\" DISKETTES (continued)\r\n\r\n 3. Copy ANTHEMS.DAT and FLAGS.DAT from 3.5\" disk #2 to 5.25\" disk #2\r\n 4. Copy all of the files on 3.5\" disk #2 to 5.25\" disk #3 EXCEPT for\r\n ANTHEMS.DAT and FLAGS.DAT.\r\n 5. Copy COUNTRY1.DAT from 3.5\" disk #3 to 5.25\" disk #4\r\n 6. Copy COUNTRY2.DAT from 3.5\" disk #3 to 5.25\" disk #5\r\n{\r\nPRINTERS\r\n\r\nIf you have a printer that is not listed, try the printer that is the most\r\nlike yours. If you have an older dot-matrix printer, try typing graphics\r\nfrom the dos prompt and using the shift-printscreen key to print.\r\n\r\nFor some printers there will not be a difference between \"Draft\" and \"Normal\"\r\nmodes.\r\n\r\n\r\nThanks again.\r\n\r\nPC Globe, Inc."
