It is intended for advanced users and administrators. \r\nIt covers the following topics:\r\n\r\n1. Customizing .INI files (ORGANIZE.INI, LOTUS.INI, WIN.INI)\r\n2. Printing tips\r\n3. How to print a four-week view\r\n4. Adding a front-page logo\r\n5. Starting the Organizer automatically and opening files\r\n6. Using cc:Mail\r\n7. Uninstalling the Organizer\r\n8. Address-section sorting\r\n9. The ORGFILES subdirectory\r\n10. Sizing the Organizer window\r\n11. Alarms\r\n12. Using the Organizer as a Windows shell application\r\n13. How an assistant can manage an executive's Diary\r\n14. How to handle conflicting appointments\r\n15. How to use the Organizer with OS/2\r\n16. A complete ORGANIZE.INI file\r\n\r\n\r\nTEMP Environment Variable\r\n-------------------------\r\nThe TEMP environment variable should be set on each user's \r\nworkstation. Usually it is in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file. Make sure \r\nthat the environment variable is set to point to a valid directory. \r\nHowever, do not set it to point to the root \"\\\" directory. \r\n\r\n\r\nRunning cc:Mail and Notes\r\n--------------------------\r\nIf you have both cc:Mail and Notes installed on the workstation, \r\nmake sure that the cc:Mail program path appears before the Notes \r\nprogram path in the PATH command line in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file.\r\n\r\n\r\nFile/Open dialog box may not display the previous directory \"..\" \r\n-----------------------------------------------------------------\r\nIn some versions of Novell NetWare, users may find that the \r\nprevious directory option \"..\" does not appear in directory lists. \r\nThis makes it difficult to navigate through network directories in \r\ndialog boxes such as File/Open.\r\n\r\nTo resolve this problem, follow these instructions:\r\n\r\n1. Add the following entry to SHELL.CFG or NET.CFG in the user's \r\n root directory -- usually c:\\ -- or the directory that the \r\n Novell network drivers are started from:\r\n\r\n show dots = on\r\n\r\n2. Reboot the user's computer and start the Netware shell and \r\n communication programs -- NETX.COM and IPX.COM. You'll see a \r\n NetWare message acknowledging the new entry. \r\n\r\n3. The \"..\" directory option should now be displayed.\r\n\r\n\r\nCONFIG.SYS settings\r\n-------------------\r\nBe sure that the \"FILES=\" parameter in users' CONFIG.SYS files is \r\nset appropriately. A value of 30 should be sufficient both for \r\nworkstations running the Organizer client and also for the \r\nworkstation that is running the AGENT.EXE program. In Novell \r\nNetWare, you may also need to increasethe value for the File Handles \r\nparameter.\r\n\r\n\r\nRunning SHARE.EXE\r\n-----------------\r\nSHARE.EXE is provided with your standard DOS operating system. \r\nInclude it in a user's AUTOEXEC.BAT file. If you run Windows from \r\nyour AUTOEXEC.BAT file, make sure you have SHARE.EXE before the \r\nWIN command line.\r\n\r\n\r\nUsing Superlist of Public Mailing Lists when selecting attendees\r\n----------------------------------------------------------------\r\nSelecting a Superlist of Public Mailing Lists from the main cc:Mail \r\nDirectory when creating a meeting will not display users' free time \r\nbars. Use regular public or private mailing lists instead. \r\n\r\n\r\nUsing IBM ThinkPad with Organizer\r\n---------------------------------\r\nIf you're using the IBM ThinkPad configured with the IBM VGA driver \r\ndirectly connected to a LAN, the screen may repaint incorrectly \r\nwhen you exit the Schedule Meeting dialog box after creating a group \r\nmeeting. You need to use the standard Windows VGA driver.\r\n\r\nTo install a new driver:\r\n\r\n1. In Windows Program Manager, double-click the Windows Setup icon.\r\n2. Select Options from the Menu.\r\n3. Select Change System Settings.\r\n4. Choose VGA in the Display list.\r\n5. Choose YES when prompted to Restart Windows.\r\n\r\nAlternatively, you can add the following line to the \r\n[Settings] section of your ORGANIZE.INI file in the \r\n\"Windows\" directory:\r\n\r\n [Settings] \r\n NoRoundRegions=1\r\n\r\n\r\nInviting a person who is not an e-mail user to a meeting.\r\n--------------------------------------------------------\r\nIf you wish to invite a person to a meeting who is not listed\r\nin the mail directory you may do so by performing the following steps:\r\n1)\tType the person's name in the Add field of the Scheduling\r\n dialog box. \r\n2) Organizer will inform you that a meeting notice will not be \r\n sent to this person.\r\n3)\tClick on the OK button to add the name to the attendee list.\r\n\r\n\r\nThe following information is for network administrators only\r\n============================================================\r\n\r\nManaging resources\r\n------------------\r\nThe Lotus Organizer Administrator's Guide, page 34, describes \r\nsetting up Organizer files for resources such as conference rooms \r\nand equipment. There are two ways to manage resources:\r\n\r\n1. Resources are managed by an Organizer scheduling agent. In this \r\ncase, resources are automatically booked by the scheduling agent \r\non a first-come, first-served basis. \r\n\r\nThe resources are defined as remote \"R\" users in the cc:Mail \r\nDirectory. No Organizer licenses or cc:Mail licenses are required \r\nfor these resources. \r\n\r\n(If you have an assistant monitoring the remote resource's .ORG file, \r\nhave the assistant open the .ORG file in read-only mode. Otherwise, \r\nyou need to define the resource as an \"L\" user, which requires a \r\nvalid cc:Mail license.)\r\n\r\n\r\n2. Resources are managed by somebody; for example, by an \r\nadministrative assistant. In this case, you define the resources in \r\nthe cc:Mail Directory as local \"L\" users. \r\n\r\nSince resources managed in this way are local cc:Mail users, they DO \r\nrequire valid cc:Mail licenses. No Organizer licenses are required.\r\n\r\nNOTE: The Organizer License Packs include extra cc:Mail licenses to \r\nbe used exclusively for resources.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nNo scheduling information needed for aliases or bankshot mailing lists\r\n----------------------------------------------------------------------\r\nIf you schedule a meeting with an alias that you select from the\r\ncc:Mail directory, Organizer will find the user name that the alias \r\npoints to. There is therefore no need to enter scheduling information \r\nfor aliases in the cc:Mail Directory. \r\n\r\nIf you have manually added scheduling information for alias entries in\r\nyour Directory, you should remove this information and add it to the \r\nentries that the aliases point to, if it is not already there.\r\n\r\nLikewise, scheduling information should not be entered for cc:Mail \r\nbankshot mailing lists, even though these have a location of 'r' in \r\nthe directory.\r\n\r\n\r\nSetting PATH on Novell Netware networks\r\n---------------------------------------\r\nOrganizer and cc:Mail for Windows 2.0 require that the cc:Mail program\r\npath containing the VIM DLLs be listed in the user's PATH environment \r\nvariable. The install programs for both products optionally set this \r\npath in the user's AUTOEXEC.BAT file. \r\n\r\nBecause the length of the PATH value is limited, we recommend that \r\nNetWare administrators write the NetWare login script for cc:Mail and \r\nOrganizer users to add the cc:Mail program path directory as a search \r\npath when the users log onto the network.\r\n\r\nThis will reduce the chances of exceeding the maximum PATH length.\r\nIt won't matter if users don't answer \"Yes\" to the prompt to add the \r\npath to the AUTOEXEC.BAT file during install. \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n~ORGAGNT and server entries\r\n---------------------------\r\nIf you have multiple post offices and you don't have cc:Mail\r\nAutomatic Directory Exchange, you need to make an entry for the agent\r\n(for example, ~ORGAGNT) in every post office. Make the agent entry\r\nin the same way that you'd make a post office entry, as in the example\r\nbelow.\r\n\r\nIn post office Silver-HQ:\r\n~ORGAGNT P \r\n\r\nIn the other post offices: \r\n~ORGAGNT p Silver-HQ\r\n\r\nThe same is also true for server entries. You can use SRVADMIN.EXE to\r\ncreate server entries in each post office that is in use by Organizer.\r\n\r\n\r\nRead/Write access rights to cc:Mail post office\r\n-----------------------------------------------\r\nThe Organizer network guest account, referred to in the Administrator's \r\nGuide as ORGACCT, requires both read and write access rights to the \r\ncc:Mail post office directory; for example M:\\CCDATA. \r\n\r\n\r\nIBM OS/2 LAN SERVER 3.0 \r\n-----------------------\r\nWhen running Organizer in Windows-OS/2 under IBM OS/2 LAN SERVER 3.0, \r\nyou may find that\r\n\r\n- When users go to the WinOS/2 desktop, the error message \r\n \"LANSRV.DRV not found\" appears, \r\n \r\n- WinOS/2 under IBM LAN SERVER treats network drives as local drives.\r\n\r\n- Users can't open files by selecting user names. Consequently, they\r\n cannot use group scheduling.\r\n\r\nIf this occurs, do the following:\r\n\r\n1. Install Organizer. Do not use SETUPDIR. Use DIRADMIN to \r\n add scheduling information for the Organizer users.\r\n\r\n2. Delete ORGNET.DLL and rename PORTABLE.DLL as ORGNET.DLL in the \r\n Organizer program directory.\r\n \r\n3. Run WORKSTN.EXE.\r\n\r\n4. Find the DOS LAN requester diskettes and unzip LANSRV.DRV and \r\n WINDLP.DLL.\r\n \r\n5. Copy these two files OS/2\\MDOS\\WINOS2\\SYSTEM.\r\n\r\n6. Set a path to the files in CONFIG.SYS.\r\n\r\n7. Add the following lines to CONFIG.SYS.\r\n\r\n DEVICE=C:\\IBMCOM\\PROTOCOL\\LANPDD\\OS2\r\n DEVICE=C:\\IBMCOM\\PROTOCOL\\LANVDD\\OS2\r\n\r\n8. Add the following line to the AUTOEXEC.BAT file:\r\n\r\n <path>LTSVCFG N1=1 S=H C=10 N=2\r\n\r\n\r\nSETUPDIR may not run properly on OS/2 on a IBM LAN Server network\r\n-----------------------------------------------------------------\r\nIf you choose to run SETUPDIR during installation, or if you run\r\nSETUPDIR.EXE after installation, the program may not work properly \r\non OS/2 running IBM LAN Server. A DOS window will appear briefly \r\nand then disappear without any updates being done.\r\n\r\nTo update your directory if this happens, use DIRADMIN instead of \r\nSETUPDIR refer to the Administration Guide section on using the \r\nDIRADMIN command.\r\n\r\n\r\nUPDVIM.BAT may fail if VIM DLLs are read-only\r\n---------------------------------------------\r\nUPDVIM.BAT is a script file that the Install program may write if \r\nyour cc:Mail and Organizer DLLs are incompatible and your post office \r\nis open at the time of installation. Install gives you the choice \r\nof quitting Install, shutting down the post office, and updating the \r\nDLLs, or of continuing and running the UPDVIM.BAT script later.\r\n\r\nInstall may find some incompatible DLLs but be able to fix them,\r\nin which case the UPDVIM.BAT file will not be written.\r\n\r\nStarting with cc:Mail for Windows 2.0, the Mail Engine and VIM DLLs \r\nin the cc:Mail program directory are read-only files. If Install \r\nindicates that you should run the UPDVIM.BAT script to update your \r\nDLLs, you may need to make them writable by using the \r\n\"attrib -r <filename>\" command for each file listed in UPDVIM.BAT. \r\nYou can do this easily by modifying UPDVIM.BAT to add the attrib \r\ncommand before each copy command.\r\n\r\n\r\nRunning the Organizer Agent from a local drive\r\n----------------------------------------------\r\nThe Organizer agent (AGENT.EXE) must have read, write, create, and\r\nerase rights to the ORGANIZE\\ADMIN directory, which is where it\r\nruns by default. \r\n\r\nYou may prefer to copy AGENT.EXE and the resource files (*.RI) to \r\na local drive and run it from there instead."
