"desc_text": "********************************************************************\r\n* SuperStor version 2.04 Release Notes *\r\n********************************************************************\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n1. If a. you are running under any version of Microsoft WINDOWS \r\n (up to and including Version 3.1),\r\n\t AND\r\n b. you have not loaded the SuperStor driver (SSTORDRV.SYS)\r\n through your \"config.sys\" file,\r\n\t AND\r\n c. you wish to use a Transportable Compressed floppy (or TCF)\r\n\t THEN\r\n please note that you MUST first quit WINDOWS and then run\r\n either \"2XON.COM\" or \"2XOFF.COM\" as you may need.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n2. SuperStor 2.04 is compatible with WINDOWS 3.1. \r\n Notes regarding SuperStor in the WINDOWS 3.1 README.TXT file \r\n are not applicable to SuperStor versions 2.0 and above.\r\n\r\n There are, however, some issues related to the SMARTDRV.SYS\r\n and SMARTDRV.EXE programs that you must be fully aware of.\r\n\r\n Please study the document titled \"ADDITIONAL NOTES ON SUPER-\r\n -STOR 2.0 FOR USERS OF SMARTDRV OR WINDOWS 3.x\" carefully\r\n before you start using SuperStor. The document is included in\r\n your product package.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n3. If you find your SuperStor disk mounting as a read-only disk:\r\n\r\n a. run SSUTIL from the read-only disk or the distribution floppy\r\n b. choose the \"Repair\" option under the \"Analysis\" menu item\r\n c. run \"Repair\" over the read-only disk\r\n d. exit SSUTIL and the drive should be fixed\r\n\r\n\r\n4. If you get a \"Disk Structure Error\" while running \"Defragment\":\r\n\r\n a. terminate SSUTIL\r\n b. run DOS CHKDSK (run CHKDSK /f if CHKDSK reports problems)\r\n c. run SSUTIL and select the \"Repair\" option under the \"Analysis\" menu\r\n d. follow the instructions \"Repair\" issues or reboot the machine\r\n if \"Repair\" completes successfully and reports that the drive is OK.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n5. DO NOT run disk cache utilities while preparing a SuperStor disk. \r\n Before running the \"Prepare\" option of SSTOR, remove (REM) the \r\n references to any disk cache utilities from your \"config.sys\" and\r\n \"autoexec.bat\" files and reboot your machine to remove the disk\r\n cache from memory. We also recommend that you disable your disk cache\r\n while running any option under the SSUTIL menu items \"Analysis\" and\r\n \"Disk Tuneup\". For normal operation, your disk cache is ok.\r\n\r\n6. DO NOT use a commercial defragmenter on a \"compressed\" drive.\r\n SSUTIL has a defragmenting utility that is specifically \r\n designed for SuperStor compressed data. Commercial defragmenters\r\n will NOT produce a well organized compressed disk, and in some\r\n cases actually DECREASE the read/write speed of compressed data.\r\n There is nothing wrong however, with running your commercial\r\n defragmenter over a disk that is not controlled by \"sstordrv.sys\".\r\n If, for example, your drive \"C:\" is compressed, you could boot from\r\n a floppy and then run your defragmenter over drive \"C:\".\r\n\r\n\r\n7. You should NOT compress your bootable partition if you use DMDRIVER. \r\n DMDRIVER should come before the SuperStor driver in the \r\n \"config.sys\" file. When creating mountable disks on DMDRIVER \r\n partitions, you must determine the sector size of the DMDRIVER \r\n partition and set the '/MAXSS=' on the SuperStor driver line \r\n to that number.\r\n\r\n\r\n8. SuperStor software is compatible with Multisoft PC-KWIK 2.0.\r\n\r\n It is also compatible with many other speed enhancing software\r\n packages. For a complete list, please call the AddStor\r\n Technical Support line."
