"desc_text": " CENTRAL POINT ANTI-VIRUS FOR WINDOWS VERSION 1\r\n \r\n \r\n This file contains information that is not in the manual or has changed\r\n since the manual was printed. Please take a moment to read it.\r\n \r\n Getting Help\r\n ============\r\n For additional information about features in the program, press F1 for\r\n online help.\r\n \r\n Command-Line Options\r\n ====================\r\n For a list of command-line options available in VSafe, VWatch, or\r\n Bootsafe, type the program name at the DOS prompt followed by /? like\r\n this:\r\n \r\n VSAFE /?\r\n \r\n Supported Modes\r\n ===============\r\n Central Point Anti-Virus for Windows supports standard or enhanced\r\n modes. It does not support Windows real mode.\r\n \r\n Updating the Virus List from CompuServe or CPS BBS\r\n ==================================================\r\n When new viruses are discovered, signature update files are placed on\r\n CompuServe and Central Point Software's BBS. The manual incorrectly\r\n tells you to download CPAVSCAN.DLL, WNVIRLIST.CPS, and VIRSIGS.CPS.\r\n Instead, to update the virus detection capability in Central Point\r\n Anti-Virus, look for a self-extracting archive file named WSIGxx.EXE\r\n (where xx is a two-digit number representing incremental updates,\r\n starting with 01). This file contains CPAVSCAN.DLL, WNVIRLIST.CPS and\r\n VIRSIGS.CPS. \r\n \r\n Troubleshooting\r\n ===============\r\n \r\n Alerts When Upgrading Software\r\n ------------------------------\r\n Anti-virus software is designed to alert you when files change.\r\n However, when you are upgrading new versions of software, you may not\r\n want to be alerted. See the \"Preventing Unwanted Alerts\" section in the\r\n Troubleshooting chapter of the manual for a way to cut down on these\r\n alerts.\r\n \r\n No Central Point Anti-Virus Icon\r\n --------------------------------\r\n If there is a generic icon in the Central Point Anti-Virus group when\r\n you start Windows, you need to specify the full path name for Central\r\n Point Anti-Virus to use the correct icon. To do so,\r\n \r\n 1. With the Central Point Anti-Virus group open in the Program Manager,\r\n highlight the generic icon for Central Point Anti-Virus.\r\n \r\n 2. Choose Properties from the File menu.\r\n \r\n 3. Type the full path name in the Command Line text box, then choose \r\n OK.\r\n \r\n For example, if you installed Central Point Anti-Virus into the default\r\n directory, type this in the Command Line text box:\r\n \r\n C:\\CPAV\\WNCPAV.EXE\r\n \r\n Scheduler Can't Find WNCPAV.EXE File\r\n ------------------------------------\r\n If you receive a message that Scheduler can't find the WNCPAV.EXE file,\r\n choose Search for Applications from the Options menu in the scheduler.\r\n This reconfigures Scheduler so that it locates the necessary files it\r\n needs.\r\n \r\n Configuration File Too Big\r\n --------------------------\r\n If you receive a message that your configuration file is too big when\r\n you install, you need to manually edit your WIN.INI or PROGMAN.INI\r\n files. \r\n \r\n To update these files:\r\n \r\n 1. Open each file using a text editor. (These files are found in your\r\n WINDOWS directory.)\r\n \r\n 2. In your WIN.INI file, add the full path of the Central Point TSR\r\n Manager to your Windows load line. For example,\r\n \r\n [windows]\r\n load=C:\\CPAV\\WNTSRMAN.EXE\r\n \r\n 3. In your PROGMAN.INI file, add a new Group line for WNCPAV and then\r\n append that group number to the order line. For example,\r\n \r\n Order= 1 2 3 4\r\n \r\n [Groups]\r\n Group1=C:\\Windows\\MAIN.GRP\r\n Group2=C:\\Windows\\APPLICAT.GRP\r\n Group3=C:\\Windows\\ACCESSOR.GRP\r\n Group4=C:\\CPAV\\WNCPAV.GRP\r\n \r\n 4. Save each file and close the text editor.\r\n \r\n Central Point Backup Users\r\n --------------------------\r\n Virus detection capabilities have been built into Central Point Backup\r\n so that you will not inadvertently back up infected files. Do not scan\r\n for viruses with Central Point Anti-Virus while backing up your system."
