Installation is accomplished in two stages,\r\nfile transfer and licensing. The first stage is performed via an\r\ninstallation program that copies and decompresses the files to your\r\nsystem hard disk. The files are stored on the diskette in compressed\r\nform, and the installation program expands the compressed files to a\r\nDOS-compatible format. The second stage of the installation procedure\r\nrequires you to run the licensing program. The licensing procedure\r\nrequires your consent to the terms and conditions, and you must enter\r\nyour name and organization at the licensing prompts. To run the\r\nInstall program:\r\n\r\n1. Insert the disk in the drive. Make it the current drive by typing the\r\ndrive letter followed by a colon, then press the ENTER key. Type INSTALL\r\nand press the ENTER key to activate the installation program. For example:\r\n\r\n\tA:\r\n\tINSTALL\r\n\r\nThree menu choices are provided. Readme (R), Installation (I), Exit (X).\r\nThe letter in parentheses indicates the letter you may type to select the\r\nmenu choice. If your mouse is working, two mouse clicks on the menu item\r\nwill also select and activate the choice. Select -Installation-. \r\n\r\nYou are prompted for the Source Drive, the Destination Drive and the\r\nDestination Path.\r\n\r\nThe installation process will create a new directory on your hard disk\r\ndrive according to the information provided for the destination path. It\r\nwill expand the contents of the diskette onto your hard disk drive into\r\nstandard DOS format.\r\n\r\nNOTE: If a file is accidentally deleted, you may run the install program\r\nagain. If a file previously exists it will ask if you want to overwrite\r\nthe file. You may choose the letter -Y- for Yes or -N- for No. Data file\r\ntemplates are included in the self-extracting file. Therefore, overwrite\r\nthem only if you desire to erase the data that you may have previously\r\ncreated. The Database files have the suffix *.DBF and *.MDX.\r\n\r\n2. Run the BENCH licensing utility. Example:\r\n\r\n\tBENCH /L\r\n\r\nThe terms and conditions are presented on the screen. You are required to\r\nprovide your Name and Organization under the terms of the Licensing\r\nAgreement. Follow the directions on the display. Bench is now installed.\r\n\r\n3. At this point you should print or type the help file:\r\n\r\n\tTYPE HELPME \tor \r\n\tMORE < HELPME\tor\r\n\tPRINT HELPME\r\n\r\nWARNING: Additional information crucial to running the benchmark program\r\nis contained in the help file called HELPME (This file is not available\r\nuntil file installation is completed). Follow the instructions contained\r\ntherein.\r\n\r\n======================================================\r\n\r\nPRODUCT SUPPORT\r\n\r\nYou may FAX your questions to the Ziff-Davis Benchmark Operation at\r\n(919) 380-2879.
