This is the ability to select a directory \r\nfrom the Tree Panel and then compress is using Commander Compression or any \r\nother packer defined in PACKER.SET.\r\n\r\nInternal Editor & Viewer\r\n------------------------\r\nThere is no internal editor built into NCMAIN.EXE in Commander Version 4.5. The\r\nCommander Editor is now in the file NCEDIT.EXE. However a simple Internal \r\nViewer is still functional in the NCMAIN.EXE file. Use ALT+F3 to invoke this.\r\n\r\nPassword protected Compressed files\r\n------------------------------------\r\nAs in any password protected file system, if you have protected your\r\ncompressed file with a password, you cannot uncompress it without specifying\r\nit correctly. If you forget your password you will not be able to uncompress\r\nthe file correctly.\r\n\r\nCloning using SHARE.EXE\r\n------------------------\r\nA problem exists when you are trying to clone to a COM port on a machine that\r\nhas SHARE.EXE installed. A conflict exists between the Clone software opening \r\nthe device COMX and SHARE granting exclusive rights to this port to the Clone \r\nBootstrap loader. This results in sharing violation errors occuring during a\r\ncloning session. To get around this problem use the CTTY AUX command \r\ninstead of CTTY COM1:.\r\n\r\nFilters\r\n-------\r\nThe definition of the Filters for Norton Commander Version 4.5 are defined\r\nin the file NC.CFG. The Filters dialog box can be changed by modifying this \r\nfile. One good example of using this file is to create a filter for Program \r\nFiles. (ie Files with extensions such as CXX, HPP, C and H ). To create a \r\nfilter like this simply enter the following data into the NC.CFG file in the \r\nfilter section :-\r\n\r\n\t\t!Program Files\r\n\t\t;DevFiles\r\n\t\t:*.c??\r\n\t\t:*.h??\r\n\r\nThe text following the ! will appear in the Filter Selection Dialog box. The \r\ntext following the ; is the text that will appear in the Title Bar of the panel. \r\nThis is displayed when this filter is operational. The file specifications \r\nfollowing the : are the types of files that are to be associated with this \r\nfilter. All valid DOS wildcards are allowable. \r\n\r\nViewers\r\n--------\r\nAll viewers that are supported by Norton Commander 4.5 are defined in the file \r\nNC.CFG. You can modify this list of files that are associated with viewers. For \r\nexample, if your word processor documents have a special file extension such \r\nas .DCC, then you can change the list of files that the wpview.exe file handles \r\nby simply adding this file specification to the list of files that are defined \r\nunderneath WPVIEW.EXE.\r\n\r\nSpecial Characters\r\n------------------\r\nTo enter special European characters, it is sometimes neccessary to use the\r\nCRTL+Q key first followed by the character you wish to enter. For example, to\r\nenter the German paragraph character, type CRTL+Q followed by SHIFT+3. \r\n\r\nNorton Commander Environment Variables\r\n---------------------------------------\r\nNorton Commander searches your environment for the following three \r\nenvironment variables in order to determine where to locate and store \r\ntemporary work files :- TEMP, TMP, NC\r\n\r\nLimitations in Compressed Files\r\n-------------------------------\r\nIf the current panel contains an open compressed file, then it is not possible \r\nto change the drive of that panel. This compressed file should be closed first \r\nand then the drive selected in the normal manner.\r\n\r\nDue to the wide range of different compression utilities on the market today \r\nand the major differences in behaviour, you may find some features of Norton\r\nCommander impossible to implement using your compression utility. This is\r\nespecially true of some compression utilities that do not support the\r\ndecompressing of files into a destination location other than the current\r\ndirectory. In addition to this not all compression utilities support the \r\nstoring of full pathnames and directories.\r\n\r\nDatex.p File\r\n------------\r\nThe file DATEX.P contains a list of telephone numbers that can be used\r\nwhen running the script file CMPSRV.SCX. This file is used by the Terminal\r\nEmulation Program. The format of this file is a follows :-\r\n\r\nPosition 1\t 2\t 3\t 4\t 5\t\t6\r\n1 5\t 5\t 5\t 5\t 5\t\t5\r\n<City Name ><Prefix ><300 ><1200/75 ><1200 ><2400 ><9600 >\r\n\r\nThe telephone numbers that are stored in this file correspond to the numbers \r\nthat are used to connect to the CompuServe Bulletin Board System. The numbers\r\nspecified after position 25 are the different numbers to be used depending on \r\nthe baud rate that you wish to connect at. You can add in you own telephone\r\nnumbers easily by modifying this file using the Commander Editor."
