With the Scaling \r\nCalculator, you can set the final scanned image to just the output \r\ndimensions you need.\r\n\r\nTo open the Scaling Calculator, click on the Scaling Calculator button to the \r\nright of the Scaling slider control. The Scaling Calculator box appears.\r\n\r\nThe top half of the dialog box shows the Height and Width of the current \r\nimage. The current image is the area outlined by the scanning frame when the \r\ndialog box is opened. The Scaling value shown is the current Scaling \r\nsetting, and the Size is the size of the image file.\r\n\r\nThe botton half of the dialog box shows the dimensions of the image after \r\nchanges in scaling are made. The Height, Width, Size and Scaling text boxes \r\ncan be set to any value by highlighting the current value and entering a new \r\none. The other values are updated automatically to match the new value.\r\n\r\nYou can enter new values in the Scaling text box until you find the value \r\nyou want, or you can enter a new dimension value in the Height or Width text \r\nbox and use the new Scaling value supplied by the calculator.\r\n\r\nNote: The relationship of the With and Height does not change when using the \r\nScaling Calculator. If you want to change only the Width or Hieght, you need \r\nto redraw the scanning frame to a new shape.\r\n\r\nThe unit of measurement for the dimensions can be set to inches, pixels, \r\ncentimeters or millimeters. Set the unit with the list box in the Image \r\nStatus Controls.\r\n\r\nOK To accept the values entered in the text boxes, click on the OK \r\n button. The value of the scaling control is automatically updated.\r\n\r\nCancel To cancel the changes, click the Cancel button.\r\n\r\nVersion 1.2 release notice \r\n==========================\r\n\r\nThis release implements internal ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) commands to \r\nScanMaker II and ScanMaker IIxe.\r\n\r\nSome leading software programs have been tested and confirmed functionally\r\nwell. Program names are listed below.\r\n\r\n\r\n Application Version Supplier\r\n ====================== ============ =============\r\n Omnipage Professional Caere \r\n\r\n PhotoFinish 1.0 Zsoft\r\n\r\n WinRix 1.1 Rix Softworks\r\n\r\n\r\nVersion 1.3 release notice\r\n==========================\r\n\r\nFrom this release, effects of Filter, Mirror and Invert can be seen in \r\nthe Scanner Display window while performing the Prescan command. Notices \r\nconcerning inconveniencies appeared in the manual on pages 30 and 31 are \r\nlifted. \r\n \r\nImplements the Scan Material command for ScanMaker 35t and ScanMaker 45t.\r\nThis command is valid to ScanMaker II series scanners if the scanner is \r\nharnessed with Microtek's Transparent Media Adapter.\r\n\r\nThe Scan Material command\r\n\r\nThe Scan Material command allows you to scan in the slide (positive film) or \r\nthe negative film. \r\n\r\nTo choose the type of scan material, click on the Scan Material button aside \r\nthe Scan Mode selection. The Scan Material dialog box appears.\r\n\r\nClick to make your selection for the slide (the upper one), or the negative \r\nfilm (the lower one). Click OK as acceptance, or Cancel to abandon the \r\nchoices you have made. Appearance of the Scan Material button displays your \r\nmost recent selection.\r\n\r\nNote: The Scan Material option is only available for the latest Microtek \r\nscanner models including ScanMaker 35t Slide Scanner and ScanMaker 45t \r\nMultiformat Film Scanner. For ScanMaker II series scanners, a transparent \r\nmedia adapter is required to enable this function. Operating ScanMaker II or \r\nScanMaker IIxe with the transparent media adapter mounted, you have three \r\nscan material choices: the reflective document, the slide, and the negative\r\nfilm. \r\n\r\n\r\n Using the ScanMaker II with non-Twain applications\r\n ==================================================\r\n\r\nThe ScanMaker II for the PC comes with Scan Module, software that\r\nallows the scanner to be used with Twain compliant applications.\r\nYou can also use the scanner with applications that are not yet\r\nTwain compliant, such as Picture Publisher and WordScan, by\r\nfollowing these steps.\r\n\r\nNon Twain-compliant applications require a file called MSCAN.SYS\r\nto be copied onto the hard drive and then added to the CONFIG.SYS\r\nfile. However, the newer ScanMaker II scanners cannot but used\r\nwith the MSCAN.SYS driver. To use the ScanMaker II, you must use\r\nthe software driver called MSCSI.SYS, and then get the\r\napplication to work with that software driver. Please run INSTSYS.EXE\r\nin the floppy disk to install MSCSI.SYS or follow the following instruction.\r\n\r\nPart 1\r\n\r\nThe first step is to copy the file MSCSI.SYS to your hard drive.\r\nCopy the file to the hard drive's main directory. If your hard\r\ndrive is Drive C, and your floppy is Drive A, then place your\r\nfloppy disk in the drive and enter:\r\n\r\nCOPY A:\\MSCSI.SYS C:\\\r\n\r\nOnce the file is in the root directory, add it to the CONFIG.SYS\r\nfile. To add the new line to the CONFIG.SYS file, you can use any\r\ntext editor such as EDLIN in DOS, or you can use the Windows\r\nNotepad application. The new line should look like this:\r\n\r\ndevice = MSCSI.SYS\r\n\r\nAfter adding the line to CONFIG.SYS, reboot your computer.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nPart 2\r\n\r\nThe ScanMaker II for the PC comes with Scan Module, software that\r\nallows the scanner to be used with Twain compliant applications.\r\nScanMaker II scanners use a software driver called MSCSI.SYS.\r\nHere is how to use the MSCSI.SYS driver with applications that\r\nare not Twain compliant, and are expecting the MSCAN.SYS driver.\r\nThe MSCSI.SYS driver is fully backward compatible with the\r\nMSCAN.SYS driver. However, the techniques used for setting the\r\naddress with MSCAN.SYS and MSCSI.SYS are different; MSCAN.SYS\r\nuses I/O port addresses, such as 200 and 300, while MSCSI.SYS\r\nuses memory address, like d400 and d000. In addition, MSCSI.SYS\r\nrequires the SCSI ID number information.\r\nWhen asked to enter the I/O port address, enter a code number\r\nthat represents the SCSI ID and memory address. For example, if\r\nyour ScanMaker II SCSI ID setting is at 6 and the interface card\r\naddress is set at dc00, you can find the correct address code in\r\nthe following table. Just find where the correct SCSI ID column\r\nintersects with the row containing the interface card address. In\r\nthis example, the correct code is 60.\r\nWith some applications, you may be required to use a 3 digit\r\nnumber for the I/O address, while the number codes in the table\r\nbelow are only 2 digits. If this happens, simply put a \"2\" or \"3\"\r\nat the beginning of the code number. So in the above example, the\r\n\"60\" would become \"260.\" The extra number at the beginning has no\r\neffect on the code. It is used only to fool the application.\r\n\r\n\r\n Interface Scanner SCSI ID Number\r\n Card\r\n Addres 0 1 2 3 4 5 6\r\n s\r\n 0xd400 06 05 04 03 02 01 00\r\n 0xd000 16 15 14 13 12 11 10\r\n 0xcc00 26 25 24 23 22 21 20\r\n 0xc800 36 35 34 33 32 31 30\r\n 0xe400 46 45 44 43 42 41 40\r\n 0xe000 56 55 54 53 52 51 50\r\n 0xdc00 66 65 64 63 62 61 60\r\n 0xd800 76 75 74 73 72 71 70\r\n Table 1. The Address and SCSI ID Mapping Table\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nPart 3\r\n\r\nAfter you have set up the scanner, you are ready to use the\r\nScanMaker II. If the application gives you the option of\r\nselecting the ScanMaker II, then choose ScanMaker II. If the\r\nScanMaker II is not directly supported, you can choose a\r\ndifferent scanner model, such as the 600Z or the 300Z.\r\n\r\nIn the case of Picture Publisher, you should select \"600Z.\" If\r\nyou are using WordScan, then choose \"Microtek scanners (all).\"\r\n\r\nOnce you have selected your scanner, you will be able to use it\r\ninside the application."
