INSTALLATION CONSIDERATIONS\r\n==========================================================\r\n\r\n1.1 Aldus FreeHand 4.0 and PageMaker 5.0 \r\n----------------------------------------\r\nYou can install both Aldus FreeHand 4.0 and PageMaker 5.0 on the \r\nsame machine, without problems. They use the same spelling and \r\nhyphenation dictionaries. \r\n\r\n1.2 Aldus FreeHand 4.0 and PageMaker 4.0 \r\n----------------------------------------\r\nYou can install Aldus FreeHand 4.0 on a machine that has \r\nPageMaker 4.0 installed, without problems. The Aldus FreeHand 4.0 \r\nInstaller installs updated dictionaries that PageMaker 4.0 and \r\nAldus FreeHand 4.0 can share. \r\n\r\nWe do not recommend, however, that you install PageMaker 4.0 on \r\na machine that already has Aldus FreeHand 4.0 or PageMaker 5.0 \r\ninstalled. PageMaker 4.0 installs and uses an earlier dictionary \r\nformat, which does not work with Aldus FreeHand 4.0 or PageMaker 5.0. \r\n\r\n1.3 Fonts for Sample illustrations \r\n----------------------------------\r\nTo display the ALDUS.FH4 illustration with the correct fonts, \r\ninstall these fonts using Adobe Type Manager (ATM):\r\nò BodoniAntT,BOLD\r\nò FuturTLig\r\nò FuturTExtBol\r\nò FuturTLig,ITALIC\r\n\r\nBoth ATM and the fonts are included in the ATM envelope in the Aldus\r\nFreeHand 4.0 product box. See the \"ATM Quick Install Card\" included \r\nin the ATM envelope.\r\n\r\n\r\n==========================================================\r\n2. NETWORK COPY DETECTION (NCD)\r\n==========================================================\r\n\r\n2.1 About network copy detection \r\n--------------------------------\r\nNetwork copy detection (NCD) is included in this release of Aldus \r\nFreeHand. Network administrators benefit from this feature, which \r\nhelps them ensure that users on the network are operating Aldus\r\nFreeHand 4.0 within the legal rights granted by the Aldus Licensing \r\nAgreement.\r\n\r\n2.2 Working with network copy detection\r\n---------------------------------------\r\nThe Aldus FreeHand 4.0 license agreement permits one person to use \r\na purchased copy of Aldus FreeHand at one time. Refer to the \r\nlicense agreement card in the Aldus FreeHand 4.0 box for details.\r\n\r\nFor additional licenses, contact:\r\nAldus Customer Services\r\n(800) 628-2320 (US and Canadian customers)\r\nor contact an Aldus distributor or dealer in your country.\r\n\r\nYou are responsible for ensuring that Aldus FreeHand 4.0 is used in \r\naccordance with the software license agreement. If you have a Novell\r\nNetware network (version 2.15 or later), Aldus FreeHand's built-in\r\nnetwork copy detection helps you ensure legal usage at your site.\r\n\r\nEach copy of Aldus FreeHand 4.0 has a unique identification number \r\nthat identifies it on a Novell network. (Copies of Aldus \r\nFreeHand 4.0 installed from the same disk set have the same \r\nnetwork identification number.) When a copy of Aldus FreeHand 4.0 \r\nlicensed for a single-user is started, its network identification \r\nnumber is broadcast over the network in a semaphore. Users starting \r\nan additional copy of Aldus FreeHand 4.0 with the same network \r\nidentification number will be required to exit Aldus FreeHand 4.0 \r\nimmediately.\r\n\r\nIf your copy of Aldus FreeHand 4.0 is licensed for multiple users, \r\nthe network identification number is logged in the server bindery \r\nalong with the number of legal users allowed for that copy. Each \r\ntime a copy with the same network identification number is started, \r\nthe number of legal users is decreased by one. If a user starts a \r\ncopy of Aldus FreeHand 4.0 when the number of legal users has been \r\ndecreased to zero, that user will be required to exit Aldus \r\nFreeHand 4.0 immediately. (If they have been working in Aldus \r\nFreeHand 4.0 before they logged on to the network, they are allowed \r\nto save their work.)\r\n\r\nAs soon as a user exits Aldus FreeHand 4.0, the number of legal \r\nusers for that copy increases by one. If there is a system crash \r\nor a power failure, the user's session is not cleared from the \r\nserver bindery until that user starts Aldus FreeHand 4.0 again \r\nfrom the same machine and then exits.\r\n\r\n2.3 Enabling network copy detection (Novell users only)\r\n-------------------------------------------------------\r\nWINBUMPS allows you to enable the network server to track multiple \r\ncopies of Aldus FreeHand 4.0 using NCD. WINBUMPS is installed in the\r\nALDUS\\USENGLSH\\UTILITY directory when you install Aldus FreeHand 4.0.\r\n\r\nNote: You do not need to enable the network server for NCD if you \r\npurchased a copy of Aldus FreeHand 4.0 licensed for a single-user.\r\n\r\nWINBUMPS uses Novell-supplied application calls (APIs) to add an \r\nobject (ALDUSNCD) to your server's bindery. These application calls \r\nare the same calls the supervisor's software uses to add new users \r\nand information to the bindery. (If you want, you can back up the \r\nserver bindery before you begin.)\r\n\r\nThe ALDUSNCD object tracks information about users: their network \r\ncard identification number, their Aldus FreeHand 4.0 network \r\nidentification number, and the maximum number of users permitted to \r\nrun the same copy of Aldus FreeHand 4.0 at once. You can retrieve \r\nthis information from the server bindery with the WINBUMPS program. \r\nSee \"Monitoring network copy detection\" below for details.\r\n\r\nTo enable the network server:\r\n1. Restart your computer and log on to \r\n the network. \r\n2. Start Windows (3.1 or later).\r\n3. Double-click WINBUMPS.EXE in the ALDUS\\USENGLSH\\UTILITY \r\n directory on your hard disk.\r\n4. Choose \"Show Preferred\" from the Server menu \r\n to confirm the name of the network server. If the \r\n network server shown is not correct, run the \r\n Windows File Manager and detach all network servers \r\n except the one you want to enable. The network \r\n server you enable for NCD is the same server on \r\n which network users log in.\r\n5. Choose \"Enable Preferred\" from the Server menu to \r\n enable the network server for NCD.\r\n6. Exit WINBUMPS.\r\n\r\n2.4 Monitoring network copy detection (Novell users only)\r\n---------------------------------------------------------\r\nIf your copy of Aldus FreeHand 4.0 is licensed for multiple users, \r\nyou can use the WINBUMPS program to get a list of current Aldus \r\nFreeHand users from the server bindery. If you haven't done so \r\nalready, you'll need to enable the network server for NCD following \r\nthe instructions listed in \"Enabling network copy detection\" earlier\r\nin this file.\r\n\r\nTo generate a report of current users:\r\n1. Restart your computer. \r\n2. Start Windows (3.1 or later).\r\n3. Double-click WINBUMPS.EXE in the ALDUS\\USENGLSH\\UTILITY \r\n directory on your hard disk. \r\n4. Choose \"Show Preferred\" from the Server menu to \r\n confirm the name of the network server. If the \r\n network server shown is not correct, run the \r\n Windows File Manager and detach all network \r\n servers except the one you want to check. \r\n5. Choose \"Log Info to File\" from the File menu.\r\n6. Specify a name and directory location where you \r\n want the log file to be saved, and then click \"OK.\"\r\n7. Exit WINBUMPS.\r\n\r\nA list of the users of all Aldus products that use NCD, the network \r\nidentification number associated with each open copy of an Aldus \r\nproduct, and the identification number of the network card in each \r\nworkstation is saved to the log file. To view the results, open the \r\nlog file in a text-editing program such as Windows Notepad.\r\n\r\n2.5 What to do if you get an alert message\r\n------------------------------------------\r\nImmediately save your illustration, and then exit Aldus FreeHand 4.0.\r\nIf you do not save and exit, you may lose unsaved changes to your \r\nillustration. You can restart Aldus FreeHand 4.0 as soon as the \r\nother users exit the identical copies.\r\n\r\n2.6 Installing individual copies on workstations on a network\r\n-------------------------------------------------------------\r\nInstallation of Aldus FreeHand 4.0 on a networked workstation is \r\nidentical to installation on a non-networked workstation. Follow \r\nthe procedures outlined in the \"Quick Install Card\" or refer to the\r\ninstallation section in \"Aldus FreeHand 4.0 Getting Started.\"\r\n\r\nDo not install the same disk set on multiple workstations; this will\r\ntrigger the NCD alert. To avoid this, add concurrent users of \r\nAldus FreeHand 4.0 as described in section 2.2. \r\n\r\nIf you are setting up a license pack or additionally purchased \r\ncopies of the program on a network, note which disk sets are used \r\nto install Aldus FreeHand 4.0 on which workstations. If you need to \r\nreinstall the program later, you must use the same disk set used \r\nfor the original installation.\r\n\r\n\r\n==========================================================\r\n3. ONLINE HELP \r\n==========================================================\r\n\r\n3.1 Online Help\r\n---------------\r\nTo use online Help, choose a command from the Help menu. \r\n\r\nYou can bypass the Help menu and go directly to the relevant screen \r\nby using context-sensitive Help. All other sample illustrations were created in earlier \r\nversions of Aldus FreeHand and converted to version 4.0. \r\n\r\nTo open a sample illustration:\r\n1. Install Aldus FreeHand 4.0, the Sample illustrations, \r\n and these fonts: BodoniAntT,BOLD, FuturTLig, \r\n FuturTExtBol, and FuturTLig,ITALIC. \r\n2. In the FH4ART directory in the FH4 directory, \r\n double-click the illustration file you want to open. \r\n3. Select \"Better (but slower) display\" in the \r\n \"Preferences\" dialog box for high-resolution display \r\n of the illustration. \r\n\r\nNote: On the \"Color list\" palette in two illustrations--LOMBART.FH4 \r\nand GUDE.FH4--you'll see Aldus FreeHand's default colors in two \r\nlanguages.\r\n\r\n\r\n==========================================================\r\n5. CORRECTIONS TO THE ALDUS FREEHAND 4.0 USER MANUAL\r\n==========================================================\r\n\r\n5.1 Page 102: \"Importing and exporting colors\"\r\n----------------------------------------------\r\nIn addition to the color-matching libraries listed in the User Manual,\r\nyou can choose from two more predefined libraries: \r\nò Greys--includes tints of black from 1 to 99% in both \r\n spot and process color models.\r\nò Crayon--includes the colors found in a typical 64-color \r\n box of crayons.\r\n\r\nBoth libraries are included as examples of custom libraries, which \r\nhave a filename that ends with an .ACF extension. Unlike a color-\r\nmatching library, which has a filename that ends with a .BCF \r\nextension, a custom library is an ASCII text file that you can \r\nopen and edit in a text editor.\r\n\r\n5.2 Page 188: \"OLE: Object linking and embedding (Windows)\"\r\n-----------------------------------------------------------\r\nWhen you want to paste an Aldus FreeHand 4.0 object into another \r\nprogram as an OLE-linked object, be sure to save the Aldus FreeHand \r\nillustration in which you created the object before you copy the \r\nobject to the Clipboard. If you do not save the illustration, the \r\nobject will not link to the destination program.\r\n\r\n5.3 Page 201: \"To convert an earlier-version illustration to \r\nversion 4.0\"\r\n------------------------------------------------------------\r\nTo convert an Aldus FreeHand 3.x file in Windows, after Step 1 choose\r\n\"FreeHand 3.0/3.1 files\" in the \"List files of type\" drop-down list. \r\nThen continue with Step 2.\r\n\r\n5.4 Page 166-167: \"Simulating a transparent object\"\r\n---------------------------------------------------\r\nAn easier technique for simulating transparency was added to the \r\nprogram after the User Manual was printed. \r\n\r\nTo simulate a transparent path:\r\n1. Select two closed, overlapping paths that have \r\n \"Basic\" fills applied to them. \r\n2. Press Alt as you choose \"Intersect\" from the \r\n \"Path operations\" submenu on the Arrange menu.\r\n3. Specify the opacity of the object in front, and \r\n then click \"OK.\" Aldus FreeHand creates a new object \r\n in front of the two overlapping objects.\r\n\r\n\r\n==========================================================\r\n6. EPS FILE ISSUES \r\n==========================================================\r\n\r\nIf you created an Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) file using the \r\nWindows version of Aldus FreeHand 4.0 (or another Windows or MS-DOS\r\nprogram), transferred it to the Macintosh, and you cannot locate the\r\nfile using the \"Open...\" or \"Place...\" command in Aldus FreeHand 4.0\r\nfor the Macintosh, make sure the filename ends with an \".EPS\" \r\nextension.\r\n\r\nAn EPS file created in Aldus FreeHand 4.0, with the Aldus FreeHand \r\nillustration embedded, cannot be placed in an illustration created \r\nin Aldus FreeHand 2.0 for the Macintosh.\r\n\r\nAn EPS file created in Aldus FreeHand 4.0, with the Aldus FreeHand \r\nillustration embedded, cannot be opened in Aldus PrePrint 1.5.1 for \r\nthe Macintosh.\r\n\r\nTo open an Aldus FreeHand 4.0 file in Adobe Photoshop or Adobe \r\nDimensions, use the Adobe Illustrator 3.0 export format. \r\n\r\n\r\n==========================================================\r\n7. TEXT \r\n==========================================================\r\n\r\n7.1 Converting text to paths\r\n----------------------------\r\nIf text overflows a text block, and you convert the text to paths, \r\nonly the visible text is converted to paths. The rest of the text \r\nis lost. To avoid losing text, resize the text block or copyfit to \r\nsee the remaining text before converting to paths. \r\n\r\n7.2 Overprinting text\r\n---------------------\r\nBy default, Aldus FreeHand overprints black text. \r\n\r\nTo manually control overprinting of text, or to overprint text that \r\nis not black:\r\n1. Select the Text tool, then select the text \r\n you want to overprint.\r\n2. Display the Fill or Stroke Inspector.\r\n3. Check \"Overprint\" to turn it on.\r\n\r\n\r\n==========================================================\r\n8. FONTS \r\n==========================================================\r\n\r\n8.1 Stone Print fractions\r\n-------------------------\r\nTo type a fraction using Stone Print fonts:\r\n1. In Program Manager, open the Accessories \r\n program group. Double-click the character map icon \r\n and choose \"StonePrintFractions\" from the Font menu.\r\n2. Select a numerator by double-clicking on the number \r\n you want in the second row of characters.\r\n3. Type a slash for the fraction bar.\r\n4. Select a denominator by double-clicking on the \r\n number you want in the third row.\r\n5. Click \"Copy.\"\r\n6. Switch to Aldus FreeHand 4.0, click an insertion \r\n point in the illustration where you want to insert \r\n the fraction, and choose \"Paste\" from the Edit menu. \r\n\r\n8.2 Displaying fonts properly in palettes and menus\r\n---------------------------------------------------\r\nIf fonts in palettes and menus display badly in Aldus FreeHand 4.0,\r\ntry a setting that uses small fonts in your Windows 3.1 display \r\ndriver. Settings using large fonts may not display well in Aldus \r\nFreeHand 4.0. \r\n\r\nTo use small fonts in palettes and menus, open the Main program \r\ngroup and double-click Windows Setup. Choose \"Change System \r\nSettings...\" from the Options menu and then select a Display option \r\nthat uses small fonts and is appropriate for your video card and \r\nmonitor.\r\n\r\n\r\n==========================================================\r\n9. COMPATIBILITY ISSUES WHEN TRANSFERRING FILES BETWEEN \r\nPROGRAMS \r\n==========================================================\r\n\r\nChapter 8 of the \"Aldus FreeHand 4.0 User Manual\" describes important\r\nconsiderations when importing or exporting files between Aldus \r\nFreeHand 4.0 and other programs. By studying the techniques and\r\nmethods in that chapter, you will avoid many problems. Additional \r\nconsiderations follow. \r\n\r\n9.1 Adobe Illustrator 1.1 file format\r\n-------------------------------------\r\nObjects you create in Adobe Illustrator and save in Adobe \r\nIllustrator 1.1 format may not import to Aldus FreeHand 4.0 as \r\nexpected. For better results, try using Adobe Illustrator 88 or 3.0.\r\nWhen you save an Adobe Illustrator object in Adobe Illustrator 1.1 \r\nformat:\r\nò A text block with multiple text attributes \r\n imports as multiple text blocks.\r\nò Text imports separately from the text block. Text \r\n becomes a group and its associated text block \r\n becomes a rectangle. The two are then grouped \r\n together. If text attributes change, all of the \r\n text blocks are grouped together before they \r\n are grouped with the rectangle.\r\nò Text blocks always import with word and letter \r\n spacing of 100%. \r\nò Text blocks always import with a letter spacing \r\n of 0% for regular type and 50% for boldface type. \r\n Also, if text with a larger letter spacing flows \r\n between lines, it is not reflowed from the lower \r\n line to the upper line. \r\n\r\nIn addition, Illustrator 1.1 format does not convert the following:\r\narrowheads; compound paths; fully justified text; inhibit \r\nhyphenation; insets; keeping lines together or on the same line; \r\nleading after a paragraph; paragraph spacing below; linked text, \r\ncolumns and rows; text effects; text wrap-around value; masked \r\nobjects; word and letter spacing with minimum, optimum, and maximum\r\npercentage (just single-value word and letter spacing); multiple \r\npages; RGB colors; color names; overprinting; patterned fills and\r\nstrokes; and tiled fills and strokes. \r\n\r\n9.2 Aldus IntelliDraw 1.0 or Aldus PhotoStyler/Gallery Effects \r\nAccessory Pack\r\n--------------------------------------------------------------\r\nIf you have Aldus IntelliDraw 1.0 or the Aldus PhotoStyler/Gallery \r\nEffects Accessory Pack installed on your system when you install \r\nAldus FreeHand 4.0, you will have conflicts between versions of the \r\nALDVM.DLL and ALDVMRES.RSL support files required by these \r\napplications. Aldus FreeHand 4.0 installs a utility that resolves \r\nthe conflict by updating the files so that the applications can \r\nshare them. \r\n\r\nAfter installing Aldus FreeHand 4.0, take the following steps:\r\n1. In File Manager, locate the ALDUS\\USENGLSH\\UTILITY\r\n directory. \r\n2. Double-click the IDUPDATE.EXE. \r\n3. For each file update message, click \"OK\" as prompted, \r\n or follow the instructions on screen.\r\n4. When the utility notifies you that the update \r\n process is complete, click \"OK.\"\r\n\r\nYou can now run your Aldus applications. \r\n\r\n9.3 Placing a CorelDRAW! Windows metafile\r\n-----------------------------------------\r\nIf you place a Windows metafile (.WMF) created by CorelDRAW!, you \r\nmay not be able to place it by clicking the loaded icon in your \r\nAldus FreeHand 4.0 illustration. Instead, drag the loaded icon to \r\nthe size you want the metafile to be in your illustration. \r\n\r\n9.4 Placing a DXF file\r\n----------------------\r\nIf you place a .DXF file, arcs and circles do not import correctly. You may \r\nachieve better results by using a utility to convert the file to .CGM format \r\nbefore placing it in Aldus FreeHand 4.0.\r\n\r\n9.5 Exporting to Aldus FreeHand 3.1 file format\r\n-----------------------------------------------\r\nIf you export an illustration containing more than one TIFF image \r\nfrom Aldus FreeHand 4.0 for the Macintosh or Windows to the version \r\n3.1 format, and you open the illustration in Aldus FreeHand 3.1 for \r\nWindows, you may only be asked to re-link the first TIFF image as \r\nthe illustration opens. The program will ask you to re-link the \r\nremaining unlinked TIFF images only when you print. If each TIFF \r\nimage is stored in a different directory, version 3.1 will prompt \r\nyou properly. One side effect of this is that you may not be able \r\nto preview TIFF images until you relink them at print time. \r\n\r\n9.6 Exporting as an EPS file\r\n----------------------------\r\nIf you export a path that uses the \"Pattern\" stroke type as an \r\nEPS file, the stroke width of the pattern stroke does not scale \r\nwhen you resize the EPS file in another program.\r\n\r\n9.7 Exporting color to a Windows metafile\r\n-----------------------------------------\r\nIf you export an Aldus FreeHand 4.0 illustration as a Windows \r\nmetafile and it contains unnamed colors, the unnamed colors will \r\nshift. To preserve the integrity of colors in exported metafiles, \r\nname all the colors in your illustration before exporting. \r\n\r\n9.8 Exporting as a TIFF file\r\n----------------------------\r\nò If you export an Aldus FreeHand 4.0 illustration as a TIFF \r\n file, the exported file includes all objects on all pages and on \r\n the pasteboard. The outermost objects in the illustration determine \r\n the dimensions of the TIFF file. \r\n\r\n To save time and memory, decide which objects you want to export as \r\n a TIFF file, copy only those objects into an otherwise empty Aldus \r\n FreeHand illustration, and then export the TIFF file from the new \r\n illustration. \r\n\r\nò If you export an Aldus FreeHand 4.0 illustration as a TIFF \r\n file, in the \"TIFF export\" dialog box select a bit depth that is \r\n supported by your video display adapter, otherwise the exported TIFF \r\n file will display unsatisfactorily. For example, if your display \r\n adapter supports only 8-bit color, do not select 24-bit color.\r\n\r\n\r\n==========================================================\r\n10. USING KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS \r\n==========================================================\r\n\r\n10.1 When keyboard shortcuts have no effect\r\n-------------------------------------------\r\nIf you use a keyboard shortcut and it has no effect, the illustration\r\nwindow may not be the active window. Some keyboard shortcuts require\r\nthat the illustration window be active. The title bar of an active \r\nwindow or palette displays the \"Active Title Bar\" color as set in \r\nthe Color Control Panel in the Main program group in Program Manager.\r\nTry either of the following keyboard shortcuts to activate the \r\nillustration window:\r\nò Press Enter.\r\nò Press Control+Tab to cycle through windows and \r\n palettes until the illustration window is active.\r\n\r\n10.2 \"Save as...\" keyboard shortcut conflicts with After Dark\r\n-------------------------------------------------------------\r\nFreeHand uses Control+Shift+S for \"Save as....\" This is the same as\r\nthe default keyboard shortcut set to turn on sleep mode in Berkeley\r\nSystems After Dark screen saver.\r\n\r\nTo change After Dark's keyboard shortcut:\r\n1. Open After Dark, click \"Setup...\" and then \r\n click \"Hot Key....\"\r\n2. Either uncheck \"Sleep Hot Key\" or specify a \r\n new keyboard shortcut that does not conflict \r\n with any keyboard shortcut in the programs you use.\r\n3. Click \"OK\" to exit the dialog box, and then click \r\n \"OK\" again. Then minimize After Dark.\r\n\r\n\r\n==========================================================\r\n11. PRINTING ISSUES\r\n==========================================================\r\n\r\n11.1 Apple LaserWriter IIg paper sizes\r\n--------------------------------------\r\nIf you have trouble printing to the Apple LaserWriter IIg printer, \r\ncheck the selected paper size. Each paper size is listed in three \r\nways, for example:\r\nò US Letter(Letter.8Meg)\r\nò US Letter(Letter.4Meg)\r\nò US Letter(Letter.5Meg)\r\n\r\nSelect the paper size that corresponds to the amount of memory in \r\nyour printer. For example. (Letter.8Meg) if your LaserWriter IIg \r\nhas 8 megabytes of RAM installed.\r\n\r\n11.2 Printer-specific features\r\n------------------------------\r\nTo adjust settings for printer-specific features not displayed in \r\nthe Print Options dialog box in Aldus FreeHand 4.0 (such as \r\nduplexing):\r\n1. In your illustration, choose \"Printer setup...\" \r\n from the File menu.\r\n2. Click \"Setup,\" and adjust settings.\r\n\r\n11.3 Printing to PCL Printers\r\n-----------------------------\r\nAldus FreeHand 4.0 is primarily a PostScript output program. \r\nIn order to get an accurate printed preview of the file, use \r\na PostScript device for proofing. PostScript custom fills will \r\nprint only to a PostScript device: they will print as gray or \r\nblack solid fills when printed to a PCL printer.\r\n\r\nOther known problems when using PCL printers:\r\n\r\nPCL-5E\r\nò Set the driver to Raster Graphics mode, \r\n not HPGL-2\r\nò Performance will be somewhat slower printing \r\n to PCL-5E than PCL-5. If faster printing performance\r\n is desired, target the printer as a PCL-5 device,\r\n such as the Hewlett-Packard LaserJet III. If you do \r\n this, however, some device-specific options, such as \r\n 600 dpi printing, will not be available.\r\n\r\nPCL-5C\r\nò File sizes may be very large.\r\nò Aldus FreeHand 4.0 does not work with Hewlett-Packard \r\n ColorSmart. Instead, select \"Manual Color\" in the \r\n Printer Setup dialog box.\r\nò Printing may be slow. If your printer has a \r\n PostScript option, select that rather than PCL-5C.\r\nò Scaling using the print driver will cause the image \r\n to shift and may crop the image. Scale objects in \r\n the illustration file to achieve the desired result.\r\nò Radial fills will print as black circles or with \r\n small line fragments, depending on the printer you use.\r\n\r\nPCL-3\r\nò Bitmap patterns fills, PostScript custom fills, and \r\n transformed text that is pasted inside an object will \r\n print incorrectly.\r\n\r\nFax printing\r\nò Aldus FreeHand 4.0 does not print to Delrina WinFax PRO \r\n or Intel FAXibility software.\r\n\r\n\r\n==========================================================\r\n12. Troubleshooting program startup\r\n==========================================================\r\n\r\nIf you have trouble starting Aldus FreeHand 4.0 because the program \r\ncannot enable OLE features, you can try these techniques to resolve the \r\nproblem: \r\nò Make sure your AUTOEXEC.BAT file includes a line that runs the DOS file-\r\n sharing extension SHARE.EXE. In many cases this alone solves the problem.\r\nò Delete the file WINDOWS\\REG.DAT.\r\nò Reinstall the files WINDOWS\\SYSTEM\\OLECLI.DLL and \r\n WINDOWS\\SYSTEM\\OLESVR.DLL." }
