　　#2    Computer Virus
　　    A computer program that is designed to replicate（复制）itself by copying itself into the other programs stored in a computer．It may be benign（良性的）or have a negative（消极的） effect（影响）such as causing a program to operate incorrectly or filling a computer’s memory with unwanted codes（1）．
　　    The essential（基本）component（构成）of a virus is a set of instructions（指令）whichwhen executed（执行）spreads（传播）itself to otherspreviously unaffected（2），programs or files． A typical computer virus performs two functions． First，it copies itself into previously uninfected programs or files．Second it executes（执行）whatever other instructions the virus author included in it（3）．Depending on the motives（动机）of the virus author（4）these instructions can do anything at all including displaying a messageerasing files or subtly（巧妙地）altering（转移）stored data．in some cases a virus may contain no intentionally（故意地）harmful or disruptive（破坏性的）instructions at all（5）．Instead，it may cause damage by replicating itself and taking up scarce resorces（6），such as disk space，CPU timeor network connections．
　　    这篇短文主要谈论什么是计算机病毒，它是怎么样感染文件的，告诉我们病毒产生的根源是编写者的一系列指令，好，让我们来看看文章中一些具体的内容。
　　    （1）计算机病毒是一种通过自身复制，可以把自己复制到计算机内存储的其它程序上的计算机程序。它可能是良性的也可能是恶性的，例如引起程序的错误操作或使计算机内存乱码。
　　    （2）早期未被感染的。这里的过去分词unaffected是一个形容词，副词previously修饰它，请大家注意了，在正规英语中，形容词用于修饰名词、名词短语和代词，不能来修饰动词，看下面的例子：
　　    误：You did good fixing your computer．
　　    正：You did well fixing your computer．
　　    同样，也不能用形容词修饰另一个形容词和副词，如：
　　    误：The Linux operating system is real stable．
　　    正：The Linux operating system is really stable．
　　    （3）它执行病毒编写者隐含在程序中的所有指令。Whatever引导了一个宾语从句。
　　    （4）根据病毒编写者的动机。“Depending on……”是现在分词引导了一个条件状语从句，意思是“根据……”。
　　    （5）在一些情况下，一种病毒可能根本就不包含恶意的，具有破坏性的指令。
　　    （6）它通过自身的系列复制来占用资源，导致系统破坏。
