The density of tracks on DVD disks, and hence storage capacity,is far higher than that of CDROM.While DVD disks preserve the 8cm and 12cm CD diameter format,their track width is reduced from the original 1.7 micrometres to 0.7 micrometres.Playing speed is 1.5MB to 15MB per second and data transmission rate is about 1.1 megabytes/second.The head which reads them utilises a 650/635nm double wavelength laser.
DVD比CD-ROM的道密度高得多,从而其存储容量也高得多。虽然DVD的直径仍保持为CD的8cm和12cm的规格,但其道宽已从原来的1.7微米减小到0.7微米。播放速度为每秒1.5MB到15MB,而数据传输率约为1.1兆字节/秒。激光头利用650/635nm的双波长激光。
It is partly because of the greater density of DVD disks that the are able to enhance the capacity of CDROM many times.At the same time,their reproduction of audio and vidio is much finer than other disks.
DVD的存储容量之所以比CD-ROM大许多倍,部分是由于DVD的道密度较高。同时,其音像效果比其它光盘好得多。
