  The speed at which the processor operates is called the clock speed and is measured in  megahertz (MHz). The design of the processor determines the maximum clock speed at which it operates. A quartz crystal on the system board generates a pulse to the processor,causing the processor to operate at a specific speed.A clock cycle is the time that the processor takes to perform instructions at a given clock speed.Clock cycles are measured in nanoseconds(ns).
  处理器工作的速度称为时钟速度,以兆赫(MHz)来度量。处理器的设计决定了它能工作的最大时钟速度。系统板上的石英晶体产生一个脉冲传给处理器,使处理器以特定的速度工作。一个时钟周期是指处理器以给定的时钟速度执行指令所需的时间。时钟周期用纳秒(ns)来度量。
  Processors can operate at two dif-ferent clock speeds:an internal speed for operations within the processor,and an external speed for transferring data into and out of the processor.A Pentium P75 operates at an internal speed of 75MHz and an external speed of 50MHz;whereas a P90 operates at an internal speed of 90MHz and an external speed of 60MHz.
  处理器能够以两个不同的时钟速度工作:处理器内部以内部时钟速度工作,以外部时钟速度将数据传进或传出处理器。奔腾P75的内部时钟速度为75MHz,外部时钟速度为50MHz;而P90的内部时钟速度为90MHz,外部时钟速度为60MHz。
